Yes! We knew about the medical requirement, but I didn't know what it entailed exactly.

When I got my visas to come to Europe, I just went to my regular general practitioner, did my routine physical, and my doc wrote a letter. I didn't have to go to a random, specific doctor at a specific clinic (only 1 of 2 in the whole country here), or do any chest x-rays and bring them on the plane with me. So it just felt intense compared to that! Plus, the fact that my husband will have to pay 320€ for this exam when people here are used to paying next to nothing for health stuff due to public healthcare, it's a pretty jarring amount to have to pay (in the grand scheme of things, it's not a big deal but to people here, that's a hefty bill).

On the government website for our embassy, it specifically says, in bold: "You must carry the x-rays with you when you travel to the United States for the first time."

We won't schedule an appointment until we have an interview date, we can't do it prior anyway, as we need the letter like you mentioned. Just all very interesting learning about each step of this process! Btw, what does AP mean?

AP is Administrative Processing. Trust me you won;t have any xrays to carry anywhere. Many embassy news and such are very outdated.

Here is the Consulate information page (More up to date) you might find interesting to prepare.

Well I know that each embassy opening depends on its country. Nevertheless it’s information and it gives an idea of what to expect in the next coming weeks.

What I was saying was that announcement is the Department of Homeland Security. NVC and Embassy is the Department of State.

And seeing no Embassy has even announced when they might open they follow their own lead. I just didn't want people to think June 4th meant Embassies were open then.

Montreal: Seems like they are reopening tourist activities as of June 1st and even public libraries are open. And non essential business opened on may 25. But no interviews letters from embassy 🙄

This is just my take on the guidelines put out by the DOS but I think at the very least the state of emergency in Montreal needs to be lifted before they'll consider restarting. Might even need to see Canada's travel restrictions lift too.

Our case has been processing for 20 months now and we've been DQ for 5, so I'm right there with you in really really wanting them to reopen.

I am not a lawyer and nothing I say is or should be taken as legal advice.

Well guys, I think that embassies will start to open next week in some countries but that’s just my opinion and it’s based on news about USCIS reopening on June 4th and my country’s embassy in New York is supposed to open in June so maybe the one opens in my country as well. So hopefully that’s the case for us all and we’ll be able to get our interviews soon and reunite with our loved ones😊🤗

i hope that the embassies start reopening in June as many have predicted. The immigration lawyer, Jim Hacking, did a video today on YouTube. He thinks they won't open until after the November Pres. elections! I hope you are right!

You mean you hope he is wrong. Like wow Embassies closed until November can you imagine. It could happen.

I will look for his youtube video.  I sure hope he is wrong... that is incredibly heartbreaking if true.

The American consulate in Ho Chi Minh City is opening tomorrow with limited services available. What that entails, I’m not quite sure yet.

Well another month down. Congratulations to all the DQ's. Fingers crossed June see's some July scheduling we can only hope things open up.

Everyone just keep watching your embassies website also if you are on Facebook you should be following your embassy they announce movement there usually first.

Keep your eyes also on travel.state.gov for what will be opening up. Until the US takes off the travel ban and opens up the embassies will not open up.

Good luck to you all stay strong and stay positive.
