Yes DQ and Case Complete the same thing. It use to be called Case Complete until about 2 years ago or so they went to all electronic and using the term DQ all means the same.

Has anyone looked into the medical exam requirements? I knew that an exam was required but I didn't know what it all entailed. Has to be done at a very specific place, they need to do chest x-rays and they have to bring the scans with them on the plane?! And they even need to have a FLU shot in order to come? Sounds a little extreme.

 

AND the exam can only be 6 months old at the time of entry! 😱 What happens if there's a delay between your exam and receiving your visa?! Everyone probably already knew all this but it was news to me! 😅😅

Yes you didn't know about the medical? And that's not true Flu shot is not required it's your choice. And Only the Civil surgeon for the country of where the interview is can conduct the medical. Not extreme at all.

The visa is valid 6 months from medical to arrive in US. Many people have delays look at the shutdown now many people will probably have to redo their medical. People get put in AP for weeks, months, years and have to redo. The 6 months is the guidelines of the CDC.
There are no xrays you have to take with you on the flight. Everything is electronic now. The xrays (usually a CD) is yours to keep.

 

It's not as extreme as you think. It truly is just a physical with blood and urine drawn, xrays. Most medicals get sent to the embassy waiting for your interview. Some places you have to pick up results sealed. You use to have to take that sealed medical results that you have no idea about to interview.

 

Have you checked and know which civil surgeon to go to in your country? Also no medical until you get your interview date. You need the interview letter.

Yes! We knew about the medical requirement, but I didn't know what it entailed exactly.

 

When I got my visas to come to Europe, I just went to my regular general practitioner, did my routine physical, and my doc wrote a letter. I didn't have to go to a random, specific doctor at a specific clinic (only 1 of 2 in the whole country here), or do any chest x-rays and bring them on the plane with me. So it just felt intense compared to that! Plus, the fact that my husband will have to pay 320€ for this exam when people here are used to paying next to nothing for health stuff due to public healthcare, it's a pretty jarring amount to have to pay (in the grand scheme of things, it's not a big deal but to people here, that's a hefty bill). 

 

On the government website for our embassy, it specifically says, in bold: "You must carry the x-rays with you when you travel to the United States for the first time."

 

We won't schedule an appointment until we have an interview date, we can't do it prior anyway, as we need the letter like you mentioned. Just all very interesting learning about each step of this process! Btw, what does AP mean?
