You're splitting hairs here, I'm willing to bet most people see a signature as something physical, and just as the previous person said, it's a digital signature.

I helped someone recently and and you can't submit it without out.

It's just adding confusion to the process saying a signature is required.

Just be clear when trying to help people instead of trying to be "right" because it sounds like that's what they got confused on, they thought they needed to physically sign it.

People are coming here for clarity.

People can see whatever they want Digital signatures are legally binding and equivalent,in many cases, to wet signatures @arken is not splitting hairs, they are pointing out the legitimate facts.

Agree with @MrHanky the fact is you don't have to print it and sign it which is what most people will think they will have to do and worry that they didn't.

That's what will be most helpful to people.

The FACT is you can't submitted without the digital "signature" so why would people be worried that they didn't sign it? Because they think they need to physically sign it.

The OP’s issue has already been resolved.

The point I was referring to is since one poster mentioned the instruction says signature is not required and i simply pointed that the instruction does not say that.

When someone is confused in that way, it is better to clarify the facts between digital signature and paper signature rather than saying the signature is not required per instructions. I believe the OP has no problem with the clarification between digital signature and paper signature.

Anything can happen with USCIS! We completed our I-130 online and got an RFE saying our I-130 was not included with our uploaded evidence and I-130A. To fulfill the RFE, we needed to mail out a completed I-130 with a wet signature. It is very frustrating.

That's crazy, the whole point of the online form is that it fills it out for you.

There's was a thread for online filers were someone said they got an RFE because it didn't have a wet signature either, they did have to send some other stuff as well.

Yup, that might have been me :) In my RFE though they only asked for the signature page of the I-130 and pointed out that a wet signature is needed.

The only explanation I have for this is, that this was the smallest part of our RFE and since we do consular processing (not adjusting status from within the US), a copy of my RFE response (mailed via physical mail) gets send to the post where my husband will be interviewed. They possibly just wanted the physical package to be complete :D

Correct you don't need to sign it, it's just a digital signature, which you already did when you submitted it.

A few things are confusing and totally understand why you got nervous, the instructions are for both paper and online but there are some differences when you do it online.

They need to do a better job with messaging in the online process.

But rest assured, you couldn't have submitted it without completing that part.

The only thing you would have to print out and put an actual signature on, is if the Beneficiary had a preparer or translator on the I-130A.

It's not 100% necessary to fill out those sections though.

Not true I submitted mine online and I got a notice saying I didn’t sign mine… don’t know how that’s possible since I would’ve had to signed when I submitted online …?😭

U must print it and physically sign it this information is incorrect. I just received a notice asking for a handwritten signature for the form
