Hello, i did an online petition for my spouse a month ago.

I used the online platform and uploaded all the required documents, BUT i forgot to sign the i130.😭

I received the receipt notice 3 weeks ago, when i call uscis to report the problem they tell me that they don't see any error and that uscis would not accept the case if the form it's not valid.

What should i do? Is it possible to send another properly signed form before they make a decision?

Should i wait for a denial-rejection and start over?

You could not have completed the online filing without satisfying whatever the online signature requirement was.

That's why im so confused.

When i check the case status it says that it's under review.

I called them 5 times and i always get the same response.

Signature in online form is usually just typing the full name. It seems you are worrying for no reason when they already accepted your petition.

So relax and be patient for the next 8 to 12 months.  That status will stay the same until you get an RFE, or approval notice.

Signature is not required, not even for the beneficiary (I-130-A), says it in the instructions.

The only part I signed was as the preparer, but you don't necessarily need to do that part.

The instruction clearly says they won’t accept the petition without petitioner’s signature. Only in OP’s case since its online filing, typing the full name is the signature which OP’s did but seemed to forgot.

That's a digital signature not the same thing, you're not printing it and scanning it.

Paper would be a signature where you use your hand and a pen.

sounds like you don't know how quoting works.

you replied to me, I replied to you.

So as the instructions state, no signature required, it's electronic.

I doubt you can even submit the form without completing this step.

OP said they filed online.

USCIS tip for electronic filing

Print and electronically sign your form

  • Click Review Application to view a PDF draft version of your completed application. You may save and print a copy for your records.
  • To electronically sign your application, type your full legal name (first, middle, and last names) in the space provided.

Once again where in the instruction does it say petitioner’s signature isn’t required?

Whether electronic or by hand, signature is required. If paper filed, sign by hand/pen, if online, sign by just typing the full name on the signature box.

You're splitting hairs here, I'm willing to bet most people see a signature as something physical, and just as the previous person said, it's a digital signature.

I helped someone recently and and you can't submit it without out.

It's just adding confusion to the process saying a signature is required.

Just be clear when trying to help people instead of trying to be "right" because it sounds like that's what they got confused on, they thought they needed to physically sign it.

People are coming here for clarity.

What a friendly tone in this thread. Long story short: it's not possible to submit the online I-130 without digital signature (you cannot "send" without it) so OP might remember having typed their name in a field online before submitting.

Correct you don't need to sign it, it's just a digital signature, which you already did when you submitted it.

A few things are confusing and totally understand why you got nervous, the instructions are for both paper and online but there are some differences when you do it online.

They need to do a better job with messaging in the online process.

But rest assured, you couldn't have submitted it without completing that part.

The only thing you would have to print out and put an actual signature on, is if the Beneficiary had a preparer or translator on the I-130A.

It's not 100% necessary to fill out those sections though.
