He needs to file all his paperwork at the same time. It's called concurrent filing. 130, 485,765,864/864ez, 944 and 131. The whole jazz. I did the same but had errors on my 944 so got rejected and refiled recently.

One thing I didn't understand was you can file a 130 on line and they seem to encourage it.   So I did and followed up with the rest in hardcopy.   But I can't see any difference in the results.

The difference is in mail delivery time, possibly less missed fields on the form due to electronic validation of fields, and possibly less likely to lose some papers along the way.

That said, if you are concurrently filing, better to do a paper copy anyway so you can just send it all at once. As-is, you have to wait to file the I-485 until you have the NOA1, then it has to mailed and matched up at USCIS. Better to just do it all at once.

Research Concurrent filing. My husband and I did the same thing. I filed for 130,130A, 131,485,765,944 and 864ez. I made errors on the I 944 so got a rejection notice. refiled everything this past week. The i 944 is a pain in the butt. Refer to the USCIS website for all updated forms and instruction. Also the people on here might be your biggest resource. Good luck with everything
