I have had two traffic tickets (that have been taken care of) by police in my lifetime? Should traffic violations apply to this question? For both the violatons court fees were less than $400.

Question 23 on N400: "Have you ever been arrested, cited, or detained by any law enforcement officer (including any immigration offical or any other official of the US armed forces) for any reason?

They won't affect anything, Answer YES, the interview officer will verify that question with you at the interview. Good luck.

I’ve had two tickets in 13 years of living in the US. The first was in 2001 and I was able to retrieve the proof of payment before filing my N400 in March of this year. The second was 3-4 years back for which I undertook a drivers ed class. For both, I got county court documents that said either I had paid the fine or the ticket was dismissed against completion of the drivers ed class. I’ve got nothing to hide so felt no issue in declaring them in my application. I believe in being up front and that that will look favorable in front of the deciding USCIS officer as opposed to saying nothing and having to answer possible questions on why I did not declare within the application.

Modelo, how did you disclose that? You said Yes to Q#23? All my tickets are taken care of (either dismissed or paid fine all less than 350$) and I have court documents as well. I got two citations via speed camera not by police. Should I disclose that as well?

imo I would just add them and then in the explanation just say cited via speed camera (or got speeding ticket through mail or something). The IO can either let them stand or erase them during the interview. They won't have any effect on your interview -- unless maybe if you're excessively way over the speed limit.

For speed cameras citation, it’s up to you if want to disclose or not, doesn’t affect anything either way.

Technically you are not cited by any officer. Even if your friend was driving that car, you would get the ticket because you are the owner.

Correct. I said yes and added an explanation to the appropriate comments box.  I also submitted county court documents and a copy of my Texas drivers record to show that everything matches.

It is a bit disconcerting as the question contains the word “arrested” And when you select yes, a comments box appears specifically relating to arrests. Of course, I was never arrested and when I subsequently save the online app, the system reminds me to complete the arrest comments box. I just move on.

Up to you whether you want to add the camera tickets.  These are handled by the local authority whoever they might be as opposed to being issued by a police officer. Just thinking about them, it is probably difficult if not impossible to prove who was driving at the time of the infraction.

There is nothing to hide on the speeding tickets.. They can find that out by themselves so I saved them the bother. The ticket is after all  a citation from a law enforcement officer.
