Hi all,

I'm not sure if my application can go through without any REF(s) (I hope I can). But my application has been accepted with I-944 form and no credit score/record provided.

I wrote an explanation letter to that part of the form.

And I think this might help some of you guys out as we are pretty much on the same boat as we have just moved over to the state, so just sharing.

Hope it help.

Cheers!

Hi, thank you for posting this. I am currently writing a similar letter as I too am in the same situation. So to confirm, as additional evidence you provided your spouse's credit score? And copies of your old Electricity & Mobile phone bill payments?

This won't do anything for you. You'll be OK. The form is just the USCIS complying with an Illinois court order that is not yet permanent - it's still in court. The USCIS is still using their guidelines when considering applications. The court order simply says an immigrant cannot be deported based solely on their reliance - or suggested reliance - on public funds before becoming a citizen. Having health insurance is the best proof that you won't become a financial burden to U.S. taxpayers. As for credit scores, you can get one in three to six months after using your SSN for credit purchases (phone bills, utility bills, buying a car, paying insurance installments, etc.). I suggest you start building one ASAP.

Yes, my hubby's credit score.

And no, new Electricity bill payments with my name on it, and my new mobile phone number (in the US) bill payments.

Hi,

what is the reason behind providing the documents you chose to provide to support your letter?

Also, did you get any RFE for not providing a credit report? Or was the letter sufficcient?

Thanks

Hi,

My I-485 is still processing (waiting for interview stage), but I did not get any RFE. Everything is fine. Got my ead, ap, ssn.
