I was really needing some advice on what ya'll think is best for me to do. I had a long internet relationship with my husband with webcams and outrageous telephone bills before and after marriage but the thing is I have only been with my husband once and that is when we got married I was in Nigeria for about 3 weeks. I know this is the person I want to be with for the rest of my life and that was the best 3 weeks ever but do you think that they would deny him a visa because I have only been to Nigeria once but we have loads of proof of an ongoing relationship. It is an expensive trip and I was not planning on going back unless of some kind of emergency. Can this hurt us????????Has anyone got approved and only been together once? Please all advice is welcome!!!!!!

If you provided a certified marriage contract and evidence of a bonofide marriage (e.g. affidavits) etc. you should be fine with the US portion of the petition.

Have you researched or looked in the Africa-subsaharan forum to see what is required by the Embassy in Nigeria?

Some consulates, especially in high visa fraud countries do look at frequency of visits. I got this feeling with China, and from many posts to another China specific board that I belong to.

1 visit can be tricky, 2 looks like commitment. If you can only visit twice, best second visit would be for the visa interview.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

ara,

Your husband can be denied a visa if it appears to the consular officer that the marriage is not bona fide, i.e. that the marriage was entered into soley for the purpose of obtaining an immigration benefit.

Many factors will go into making a decision about whether or not a marriage is bona fide, number of visits being only one factor. Recognize also that scammers as well as legitimate visa applicants spend long hours in front of a webcam, typing e-mails, and talking on the telephone. That's what scammers do - a good scammer is a good communicator.

What's going to make the difference on the visa application is the impression of your husband that the consular officer gets during the few minutes of face-to-face conversation at the interview.

Every case is different, but I was told it is best to visit more than once. I married in Nigeria as well, and about two weeks before my husband interview I went again. The most important thing is to have tons of evidence, and to compile it neatly. You have started your process so just be prepared to go one more time to be on the safe side. I hope that you have lots of pictures with your husband and his family. I hope you have a speedy journey.
