I had the same issue happen to me. I received a bio appointment 3 weeks after I received my green card. I scheduled a call back with Tier 2 for an issue with my daughter’s green card which was not approved and to get more explanation on the correspondence I received from USCIS about her case. When the Tier2 called me, we discussed the reason why I requested the call and before we wrapped up the call, he brought up himself that there was a glitch in the system and he saw I received a bio appointment after receiving my green card. He told me to send the letter back to the address on it and write at the bottom where there is a space green card already received and I should  make a copy of my green card front and back and attach it. He said I didn’t need to go to the appointment because my case was already closed till citizenship and they would request for biometrics then.

This is my advice to those who are scheduled for bio appointment after receiving their green cards. Attend if you can, to avoid had I known and to clear up things face to face at your appointment venue. If it’s not needed, fine. It could be the previous that was used wasn’t confirmed and they want to capture another fingerprint or it was sent in error. Pls go in person and find out.

That is absolutely what I am going to do. I wouldn't risk my permanent residence based on an unsure answer especially from USCIS. But that doesn't mean I won't complain about driving 5 hours to be told that it was a glitch/error... 😆 I am just going to make the most of it by visiting Trader Joe's while we are there lol... I will post here to let you know what happens!

Hi everyone

just wondering if anyone else still waiting for their biometrics updates? we submited in May, WAC center. And still no biometrics updated so far.

Also, tried to call USCIS today and there was just no way we can be transferred to speak to a real officer. anyone has any clues how to get the automated agent to transfer us to speak with a real agent/officer?

Thank you

Try stating "schedule infopass" and wait until AFTER she says that she can get that scheduled for you. She will then transfer you. Hope this helps!

So.. I turned up for my appointment FULLY expecting to be told that there was no appointment and that I had basically wasted my time, fuel, a day of work, etc. I went in, handed over my paperwork, and got given a number. Then went to the next agent who appeared to check me off a list of appointments. My picture and fingerprints were taken at around 10:10am and by 3pm my case was updated.

So, my advice to all of you: feel free to call and ask, but you probably won't get a straight answer. Feel free to take a copy of the letter, and send the letter back with your own (again, copy it) letter stating that you already have your 10 year GC. But if you do that then you should expect another appointment to be given to you.

It is inconvenient, and kinda crappy to have to go all that way with the potential of being told that it was a pointless trip; but wouldn't you rather be certain?

I promised I would share my experience, so there it is. I strongly suggest you go to the appointment as scheduled - it really may just be that they need updated fingerprints. With COVID-19 it may just be that they are taking fingerprints retroactively because the offices were closed and they didn't want to delay approvals for those who had previous biometrics. Who knows..

I really appreciate the update. I actually got a call back from a Tier 2 agent regarding this today. She said i didn't have to go to the appointment, and that it was a mistake. I still don't know if i'm comfortable with what she told me especially because i forgot to get the officer's name until after the call.

Hello!

My husband had received his biometrics appointment letter recently.

There's an applicant information worksheet with it, which he must bring it with him to his appointment.

There's one question regarding race on the worksheet.

Race:

*Asian

*Black

*Caucasian/Latino

*Native American

*Unknown

My husband is a Moroccan yet Morocco is in Africa.

He is not a Caucasian or Latino.

So shall he put it as unknown??

Your husband is African. Why unknown? Doesn't he know what continent he's from?

Exactly my thoughts when he said put it as unknown.

I said "no, ur from Africa. Ur an African." Therefore I put him as Black since it's another word for African.

I don't appreciate whitewashing the Moroccans/North Africans. That's why it's important to stay true to their heritage.

USCIS considers White everyone from Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. That’s what they say in their I-751 instructions form. As Moroccan your husband should put his race as White.

Black and African are totally different though. Moroccans are African, but most Moroccan (of Berber descent) are Caucasian, hence White (I am moroccan myself BTW).

Now, we can have a whole debate about the American way of classifying race, but as it is, your husband should select White.
