thank you for sharing this!!

This didn't work for me. The bot just said that this system can help with many things and then said that if I continue pressing buttons she will hang up.

USCIS has changed their call system so that you just go round and round in circles with the robot and never get to speak to a representative.

I received a Biometrics appointment letter yesterday AFTER having received my GC about 6 weeks ago. My case status updated with my previous biometrics having been used so why on EARTH would I have to go and have another appointment after my case has already been approved??

Does anyone have any tips for getting through to a representative? I feel like I would have to say some ridiculously complicated phrase or question for the bot to ever transfer me to someone, but even then it just assumes I want my case status 🤦🏻‍♀️

OK I finally got through. A reddit post had somebody suggesting that you state "schedule infopass" and you will be put through to an agent. I tried it and it worked! I spoke to an agent immediately.

The agent said that the appointment notice may be a mistake but a higher level agent will call me back to confirm either way. Sooo if you receive a Biometrics appointment letter after you have already received your 10 year permanent resident card; call USCIS, ask to schedule infopass (I would avoid adding the word "appointment" because she might pick up on just that word and send you in spirals again), and then repeat schedule infopass if she asks again. Then you will get to speak to a human, huzzah!

Thank you for sharing. So after trying to call 8 times yesterday we finally managed to speak to a tier 1. They pretty much said the same thing as you, just keep on waiting and check the time frames. And since we are in WAC so the current processing time is anywhere from 18 to 27.5 ish.

I also asked why did it take only 1-2 months for others to receive their biometrics but we still haven't got a thing after 5 months. and they said it happens. wish it was a little more helpful. but I guess all we can do now is keep on waiting

Just writing to let people know that we filed in early May, 2020, our case was assigned to MSC, and we received our biometrics appointment letter yesterday.  The appointment is scheduled for mid December.

Be sure to return to the USA before the extension letter expires, you can get an i551 stamp in your passport to continue to travel abroad after the letter expires but only in the USA.

Being out of the USA a lot will affect when you can apply for naturalization of you are outside the USA more than 1/2 the time you will not be able to apply for an n400 until your are in the more than 1/2 the time.

Also you need to respond to USCIS requests for interview, or RFE in a timely fashion, be prepared to return for an in person USCIS appointment.  Make sure someone is minoring your mail and checking your USCIS status closely.

Ridiculous isn't it!

My appointment is 12/10. The Tier 2 agent who called me was rude and wouldn't explain anything. He even said "I have other calls to get to" weeeell, you're dealing with mine right now so.. 🤷🏻‍♀️

He basically told me that he can't tell me not to go. He can't tell me whether or not it is a glitch in the system. He said that I could send back the letter I got (after copying it) and write a letter with it stating that I have received my GC already and am I required to go to the appointment. He said that it could be that they need to update my biometrics (but why would they do that after the fact...? 🤔) - and I decided that there was no point wasting time mailimg anything back to them because by the time they even thought about responding the appointment would have already come and gone. So I am driving a 5 hour round trip to probably just be told that it was a glitch. What else can I do :(

I had the same issue happen to me. I received a bio appointment 3 weeks after I received my green card. I scheduled a call back with Tier 2 for an issue with my daughter’s green card which was not approved and to get more explanation on the correspondence I received from USCIS about her case. When the Tier2 called me, we discussed the reason why I requested the call and before we wrapped up the call, he brought up himself that there was a glitch in the system and he saw I received a bio appointment after receiving my green card. He told me to send the letter back to the address on it and write at the bottom where there is a space green card already received and I should  make a copy of my green card front and back and attach it. He said I didn’t need to go to the appointment because my case was already closed till citizenship and they would request for biometrics then.
