Hello,
I have a question about the k1 visa I129 form application.

It ask if I have any children under the age of 18 and yes I do but they don’t live with me. So of course I have to mark yes but my question is does that mean my income has to be enough for a household of 4!? I know kind of a dumb question but I didn’t even think of that until I saw that question. Now I’m afraid I don’t make enough income for a household of 4. Btw I don’t claim them on my taxes and don’t have to pay any child support.

Thanks in advance 🙂

Two different things.   I129f is asking about ALL your children which is different than the affidavit of support

YMMV

You do have to list all of your children on the I129F

Later, whether they live with you or not or you claim them on your taxes or not your support affidavit will include all of your children under age of majority (usually 18) in your household size.

If this is material to the outcome of the decision an omission here potentially may have unintended but serious consequences.

Are you the petitioner or beneficiary? The I-129F asks about children of the beneficiary not petitioner.

As for the affidavit of support - the petitioner must count all children under the age of 21 if living at home or age of majority (18 generally) if not, regardless of visitation, child support, taxes etc. The exception to this would be children that have been adopted by someone else so you are no longer their parent anyhow.  If the other parent died, you'd be responsible for your children.  The petitioner would not count the beneficiary's children unless they are immigrating.
