What will happen if we abandon or get our AOS application rejected?

Hello everyone,

My question today is just as the title says, I'm an F1 student, I'm still going to college and we got married and filed last summer, however, I didn't do the medical exams yet and right now with the virus and all the situation going on I don't want to go near any doctors or hospitals, the interview will be soon, but I want to put the application on hold or abandon it or even just go to the interview without a medical exam.

I would like to know if I do that, will I be able to file again after some months if everything gets back to normal since I'm still an F1 student? or will it be impossible for me to file again?

Thanks!

If you abandon it or have it denied, nothing will happen as long as you are maintaining F1 status and you can file for it later on.

I still suggest you go for postponement rather than letting it denied. Your request for reschedule may push your interview by several months once they open.

I would schedule the medical exam and continue as normal. Throwing all that money out the window for something so simple as a medical exam makes no sense to me. I just came back from blood work this morning, no issues, have a doctor's appointment next week, and a dentist appointment the next day. Just continue on, unless appointments aren't available, or your in Queens New York, or living in the epicenter of any outbreaks, just get it done.

And you may be worried about nothing. Have you received the notice of interview? Until then it's not worth worrying about. You should get the notice 3-4 weeks minimum before the interview and you can decide then to reschedule or get the medical exam and go to the interview. It could be years before your interview comes up, don't jump the gun and lose your place in line unless you already have a interview date and need to do something now.
