So not a huge change, because millions of people live on little to no income, paycheck to paycheck with no savings, no insurance, poor insurance, or insurance that's unaffordable, and of course major medical bills. We often tell the clueless persons on VJ asking about insurance or why they won't get their new immigrant spouse new insurance because they can't afford it, how one medical event can ruin their lives, but it's usually not listened to. And hey, I've been there. No insurance and slowly paying my bills while being hounded, or being able to afford insurance that's pretty terrible and having that rising premium squeeze you every month. Makes you wonder if a lot of systems maybe doesn't work as well as they should be..

No, not a huge change, but this shut down May impact a lot more than just those that don’t plan for a rainy day.

    I think the point is we are in America. If you lose your job, you have no health insurance coverage. Unemployment is not that great to begin with. Sick time doesn't really exist in many places. People tend to carry a higher debt load relative to income here than in many other countries. All those things make our chances of having a rainy day higher than a lot of other similar countries. People better plan for that. Those factors exist for everyone at all times. This pandemic has just highlighted something that is already there and hit many people all at once.

I always wonder how people can afford these houses they have when the average pay check never seems to be high enough to pay for their house, their car, their medical insurance, etc...
