I am at the 7 Rooms Suites 🙂 I saw your parents and brother this afternoon when they arrived. I know all the other guests, I have been here for 10 days and there are only 7 rooms 😉 I hope everything goes smoothly for them!! So, I guess they are from Romania and not affected by the travel ban?

This thread is like a small family, i love it!

Yes, Romania is not a Schengen country, so in theory they should've had no issues flying out, but they were booked with Delta/KLM for May and we changed their tickets 5 times in hopes the situation would change. My brother is a fresh LPR (he came to the states in March to activate his green card and the EO banning Schengen countries was issued the day of his arrival). He went back to help my parents come over to visit  (I had twins 6 months ago) and got stuck in Romania. Fun times.

Crazy. But I am sure everything will work out!

Does anyone have a current list of all the non-Schengen countries our members have gone through to travel to the US? My GF and I are trying to make a plan and I told her I'd put together a list of options...hoping someone on here knows and can save me from going through the previous 73 pages of the thread! It'd also be great to add the list to the original post to help others that are looking for the same information.

With regards to my specific situation, my girlfriend is German and was supposed to be here on a J1 visa in early April but got stuck due to the travel ban. We're meeting up in London in two weeks (I last saw her 169 days ago. Yikes!) which will be amazing to finally see one another. She has to have surgery in Germany the following week and needs about a month to recover. Once she's in good shape, our plan is to meet up in Mexico City sometime around the end of August or early September and then make our way to the US after doing the 14 days.

Are we taking any unnecessary risks by waiting to do this in September? I figure the situation could likely only improve by then as I know the US State Dept (Sec. Pompeo) is apparently working with the EU to try and get the ban lifted.

Cheers to everyone who's made it so far and reunited with your partner. I cannot WAIT to see my other half in just two weeks :)

I made this spreadsheet! It's helping me loads and hopefully it can help you too :)

So far, Mexico and Serbia are the main two countries which have direct flights to the US.

For those that went to Mexico - did you already have your stay arrangements made before arriving?  We wanted to pre-book a hotel but are worried if we are denied entry that we will lose out on the hotel since most are non-refundable. Does immigration ask you where you are staying or does Mexico require anything specific like that?

Thanks!

Yes, when you clear immigration in Mexico you are asked where will you stay. Better to have accommodation booked in advance. We had an airbnb and it was not a problem we preferred it vs a hotel.

Hi all

Just a quick message to confirm we successfully entered the US (LAX) after spending 15 days in Mexico.

The actual visa was fine, the guy didn't ask us anything except when we plan to get married.

However I did manage to leave my phone in the Uber that dropped us at the airport and I had to just let it go, I'm really stressed. I was running around the airport and had only 20 minutes before boarding... which meant when they tried to take my temperature at security it was too high and they wouldn't let me on! We tried 7 times, I even poured cold water down myself in the middle of the security line, fanning myself like a crazy person! The guy actually just waved me through after him seeing how stressed I was getting, definitely not the best thing to be doing in these times but thank god, I really feel like I owe him big time!

I am desperate to try and get my phone back, I feel helpless really because the guy only speaks Spanish so I can barely communicate with him. I have his number. I just brought a cheap phone today and I tried to text it in Spanish but it didn't like it. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be SO grateful. I just want to pay him to ship it over to me next day delivery for a very good amount of money!

Wow I’m so sorry to hear you lost your phone and had such a stressful time! Maaan, but luckily you got into the US without a problem, which is the most important thing, right!! Good luck 🍀

Update to this- the Uber driver made contact with me via Uber and I am in touch with him to post the phone to me.

I think that's a good testament to anyone that is worried for their safety in Mexico- there are lots of good people in the world! And always ride Uber!

Anyone waiting to enter the US I wish you a speedy 15 days and safe flights!

Hi everyone! I decided to take the plunge and fly to Serbia next week, and I have a flight to NYC on the 18th! I will be staying in an Airbnb, is there anything I might have problems with? The host will send my information to the police, is there anything else I should be mindful of?

Also, stupid question but, does anybody have experience booking extra checked luggage at the airport? My flight is with KLM with layover in Amsterdam, but I think because part of the flight is with Air Serbia it wasn't possible to book a second checked bag online, the website says I have to do it at the airport, but I have never done that!
