Hi

I have been quietly following this thread since it started and reading everyone’s thoughts and plans. Our visa is expiring on 27 June so I’m now at that desperate point of now or god-knows-when to get into the US.
Our situation is a little different as I am a US citizen and live with my fiancé in the U.K. so we will be travelling together to Mexico and together into the US.

We would both be quitting secure jobs in England to make it to the states. Is that totally crazy?

We would be looking to fly LHR-AMS-MEX on 8 June is anyone looking at the same week?
Is the risk of us being turned away at the airport or POE high?!

My fiancee with her son leaves Austria on June 4 to Mexico City. I will meet her that day there. You are not alone.

My flight is on June 8, CDG (Paris)-AMS-MEX. If you decide to go ahead with the booking, we will probably be on the same flight to Mexico!

Well that makes me feel a lot more confident that others are going on similar dates! I will be booking my flight tomorrow if we decide to go ahead with Mexico!

Where are you flying to in the US?

Hi, Thank you for all the updates, I've been lurking for a long time.
A quick question, Has anyone from the uk managed to find insurance for their trip to Mexico, I've never traveled without insurance before and Mexico feels like the wrong place to start? I fly from LHR on Thursday (4th June).

I just booked a flight from Amsterdam to Mexico City for June 17th. I will stay there for 4 nights and fly to Cancun on the 21st 🙂 It is a refundable ticket, so if Trump lifts the travel ban, I can still cancel my flights and my hotels are refundable as well.

thats amazing, where did you book it?KLM directly? we are also thinking of mexico flying 13th june or croatia, depending on turkey. They resumed domestic flights this week, so lets see if international flights will be happenig from june 10th

I booked it directly on the KLM website. I didn't want to wait any longer as flights are getting more expensive with each day.  I would have loved to go to Croatia,

You'd need to get U.K non resident insurance, as you will no longer qualify for the NHS. There are specialist companies that will insure you, although it's expensive, but needed. Obama care would be better, as you will have medical cover and not jut travel insurance.  A simple stay in hospital can cost over $100,000 so proper and correct insurance is vital in my view.

How do you get Obamacare? Not right away after arrival in US, right?

You'd sign up in advance to be active on the date of arrival. When your feet touch U.S soil you'd be covered. A short term one way policy would cover you for diversions or 3rd country protection.
