I was thinking if I stay inside the, airport for 14 days not passing the immigration like that movie with Tom Hanks

Even if you had enough quarters, in the US there isn't any place to stay before the immigrations checkpoint, not even anyplace to eat.

I will be arriving on the very same day (June 8 around 8PM local time ) due to the six-hour time difference between France and Mexico City!

According to https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries, Mexico had the 3rd largest number of COVID-19 deaths yesterday, after the US and Brazil. Travel from Brazil was just shut down.  You might end up being in Mexico with no place to go.

I have been following the news and saw that for Brazil as well! I agree that the number of COVID-19 deaths is important and relevant data, although it appears in the wording of the Proclamations that they seem to take the number of confirmed cases more into consideration:

"As of May 23, 2020, the World Health Organization reported that the Federative Republic of Brazil had 310,087 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is the third highest number of confirmed cases in the world.https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/proclamation-suspension-entry-immigrants-nonimmigrants-certain-additional-persons-pose-risk-transmitting-novel-coronavirus/

"The Schengen Area currently has the largest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases outside of the People’s Republic of China.  As of March 11, 2020, the number of cases in the 26 Schengen Area countries is 17,442, with 711 deaths, and shows high continuous growth in infection rates." https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/proclamation-suspension-entry-immigrants-nonimmigrants-certain-additional-persons-pose-risk-transmitting-2019-novel-coronavirus/

As of now, Mexico has "only" 68,620 confirmed cases vs. 374,898 in Brazil (as per https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries). Definitely aware of the risks arising out of the growing numbers and thus, the high stakes e.g. ending up stuck in Mexico though.

Coronavirus live news: WHO drops hydroxychloroquine trial as Mexico death toll questioned

Mexico City records thousands more deaths than usual, amid doubt over official Covid-19 toll

David Agren

This year, Mexico City has issued 8,072 more death certificates than the average for the same period in the past four years, according to a new study that suggests the country’s coronavirus death toll could be significantly higher than the official figure of nearly 7,400.

Research published in the Mexican magazine Nexos on Monday used information from the capital’s 52 civil registries to estimate the number of death certificates created between 1 January and 20 May.

The report’s authors, investigators Mario Romero Zavala and Laurianne Despeghel, found 37% more death certificates were issued in April 2020 than that month’s average during the previous four years. By the end of May they estimated the number would mushroom by 120%.

Peru, and Russia have all received some news media attention as of lately regarding the large number of infections there. No mention of a ban. Brazil's situation was clearly on the radar. I will take my chances with Mexico unless there is official news to take some other course of action.

So...if I understand correctly, the reason people were able to enter Mexico is because it was essential travel basically. Has anyone looked into seeing if they could enter another country?  I was looking into Canada and found that they listed "transiting through Canada for essential travel" as essential. Does that mean that this could work in Canada too?

No. Transit in Canada must be less than 48 hours and you must be connecting between 2 international flights at a Canadian airport.

But if you spend a day or two there, then that time can be counted as part of the 14 days preceding US entry.

Hi

Are you saying we can self quarantine for 14 days in Canada in order to enter the US?

Ok guys, the nyx hotel texted me yesterday, and they will “100% open their premises including pool, access to the ocean and so on on the 8th of June”. Therefore I just changed my booking, and I’m planning to fly out on the 3rd and stay in Mexico City for a few days, then fly to Cancun. Flights from Cancun to the US are pretty affordable - 177$! I would like to fly with American Airlines, and I would enter the US in Atlanta. While I’ve entered the IS in atl before, I am really anxious, and hope this is going to work 😫 otherwise I will spend an additional 2k€ for a trip. But it seems to me, as if I could at least go see the ocean for a few days, and I believe that is going to be really good for me, after the last 12 months of anxiety and lockdown (applied for the visa in June last year). If anyone wants to meet up in a socially distanced manner, I would love to meet in either Mexico City or Cancun! Fingers crossed they won’t cancel on me again !!!

Croatia is a very safe place for tourists across the board. But at this moment in time, there is no way to get from Croatia to the US without transferring through Schengen area or UK, which makes it a non-option.

Hey,

For those who are still interested in going to Croatia, I received a reply from the Croatian Border Police (see attached).

Please be noted as @zrdn2019 said, as of now, there is no way to get from Croatia to the US without transferring through Schengen area or UK.

In any case and if you choose this route, good luck!

Soooo the embassy replied to my email from yesterday- if it is true that I could get into trouble later on (AOS stage) if I travel through another country and they replied „

In reference to your email, even thought the visa was issued in Germany, you are not required to enter the U.S. directly from Germany.“
