From where are you flying and where will you stay in Mexico?

Plan A is Frankfurt - Mexico City -Cancún, Hotel is in Cancun. Plan B is Frankfurt Mexico City and stay in a hotel in a good area in the city (Santa Fe). Ela was there and said it is a really good area. I booked a hotel in Cancun, but I’ll see if I end up canceling the reservation, if I prefer to go to Mexico City.

Hello!

For those who have been contemplating Croatia to then fly to the US, I have found some info on the website of the US Embassy in Zagreb. Apparently the entrance restriction is currently in effect through June 15 but "If you need to transit through or travel to Croatia, please send an email to the Croatian Ministry of Interior Border Police at uzg.covid@mup.hr to learn whether you are eligible to enter Croatia."

Additionally, "If you are permitted entry, any foreign nationals, including U.S. citizens, traveling to Croatia may be ordered to self-isolate or spend 14 days in official government quarantine facilities. Placement in quarantine is at the expense of the traveler."

https://hr.usembassy.gov/covid-19-information-2/

Saw some direct flights to Florida (and other with a layover in Istanbul) from the Zagreb airport as of beginning of June. I am going to send them an email just to check if they would allow EU nationals with valid US visas enter, stay there 14 days as per the quarantine guidelines, and then fly to the US. I will keep you posted!

You saw a direct flight from Zagreb to Florida? 😮 On what airline?

Regarding Turkey, I don't know what the deal is. I see international flights posted for Turkish Airlines after May 28, but then I read that Turkey plans to re-start air travel to 19 countries, and the US is NOT one of those 19 countries. So I'm thoroughly confused.

I had seen some direct flights with Turkish Airlines but I have just double checked and all of them go through Istanbul. Which is weird because like you said, the US is not part of the 19 countries where they plan to resume flights for now.

I was probably tired and my brain decided to “see” what he wanted ☹️

Apologies for the confusion, will pay attention to that next time!

No worries! There is so much information flying around these days that it is so easy to get mixed up now and then!

I also have this in mind for my fiancee, one of these plans. Somehow on KLM it is cheaper to fly to Cancun than Mexico City, although there is a stop in Mexico City. Thanks for recommendation of Santa Fe in Mexico City.

I honestly highly doubt it. Schengen is not going to open its borders anytime soon, they’re even talking about September or October and the US will not open it unilaterally. It may very well be the airline’s wishful thinking or perhaps they are telling their staff that they will resume flights, but in the end they won’t, as many airlines keep postponing their restarting dates. Besides, as mentioned in previous posts, it makes no sense for other countries being free to go and Europe being banned, so who knows what’s really behind it, when they’re discussing tariffs and trade agreements at the same time.
No matter what will or will not happen, you really can’t count on it opening soon and keep waiting for that indefinitely. Especially if the visa is to expire in the meantime and you have no guarantee it would be reissued anytime soon, and the USCIS is apparently running out of money

My parents are in a high risk age group, I don’t want to send them to Mexico or another country to fly to the US :(

Hey guys

I have an IR1 visa but can I transit in europe? I mean all flights go to either Frankfurt,Paris before arriving to the US, is that okay?

Hi,

I travelled on a CR1 three weeks ago to the US.  You need to travel to a point of entry detailed in the proclamation. I arrived in Newark then flew to Denver. If you don't you will get refused entry (I may be too late on this, only saw your question today).

Here is my experience, I hope this helps! IR1 and CR1 if approved prior to the immigration ban, are exempt.

So embassy got back to me.

Thank you for your inquiry. If your parents immigrant visa was issued on or before April 23, 2020, it is valid and may be used to enter the U.S. on or before the date of expiration, but only if

  1. your parents travel to another country outside the Schengen Zone (and that is not subject to COVID-19 restrictions on entry to the US) and
  2. your parents remain in that third country for a period of at least 14 days before entering the U.S.

Please be advised that, if your parents are unable to travel to a third country and their visas expire, the Presidential Proclamation suspending Entry of Immigrants Who Present a Risk to the U.S. Labor Market (IVPP) will preclude us from issuing a new visa on their behalf.  While the terms of the IVPP indicate that it will expire sixty (60) days from April 23, 2020, it may be extended. Therefore, we strongly urge your parents to consider entering the U.S. before the visa expires.

I don’t know :( even for non Schengen countries I cannot find flights that don’t transit any Schengen country.

I really did not feel like going to Mexico either, however, I think it is the best/ only option before my visa expires. There are flights from Frankfurt and if you stay in a safe resort, I believe it is fine. I understand that your parents are older, but if I were you I’d tell them to try. Better than losing out in the chance of spending the rest of their lives without you ?!Good luck!

With Mexico I’m nervous Trump will change his mind and ban it too. I googled and found some discussions of them about it.

Does anyone know if Slovenia can be entered by German citizens?
