Hey, I have a question. With last year taxes I Didn’t meet the required income for the affidavit of support, now I have 2 jobs, do I still need to get an joint sponsor? Or now that I have 2 jobs it will be fine? Thanks.

It depend on why, how short you are, what you made the two prior years and what your current income is now from your two jobs.  Current income (for an employed person) does not come from a tax return.  Current income is how you qualify.

I was off by like roughly 1,000. I have children so I included them in my calculations based on the poverty chart. But now I have a second job so I am making more than enough, but I still confused if they determined the income by last year’s taxes or by my current income. Thanks so much for answering.

Current income does not come from a tax return.  For each job, take the gross pay for a full pay period and multiply by the number of full pay periods in a full year.  Add them together.  That's your current income.

What do the instructions say, do they say if you have 2 jobs you meet the criteria?

The instructions have a specific limit x the poverty level, you could have 1,2,3 jobs, all that matters is that the limit is met.

You'll have to show pay stubs and possibly proof of employment.

Imagine someone could have good tax returns but no assets or job currently, that would also negatively affect them.

Good morning, sorry for asking the same question, but I am still confused. My I-130 application was approved, so now I have to submit the affidavit of support and so on. I have 3 dependents and someone I sponsored in the past. Last years income tax I only made 30,319 so according to the federal poverty level I didn’t make enough. Now I have 2 jobs and my projected income for this year will be 46,128 and that will be above the poverty level. Do I still need to get a joint sponsor ? Or because my income increased I don’t have to ? Thanks.

Income requirement for 6 is about 44k so you are qualified. Current income is what matters, gather work contracts, paid stubs, employer letter to show your current income.

Is your household size 5 or 6. You said 3 dependents so didn't know if you meant spouse and 2 children or you meant 3 children plus spouse.

So is it: you+spouse+3 children+previous sponsorship =6
So is it: you+spouse+2 children+previous sponsorship =5

Also how long ago you sponsored this person? Are they a citizen or has it been 10 years?

If 6 person household yes you are barely above the guidelines. If 5 much better. I would submit all 3 years of tax transcripts to paint the picture you have increased in years and made more money making immigration more comfortable that although above the line you aren't by much.
