Hey everyone, wondering if the USCIS will still accept I-130 applications for the parents of US citizens considering the fact that the Executive order is now in place. Anyone know?

It is possible the current administration make it permanent while it is possible the next administration allow it again.

No way to know for sure.  This is an election year, and the current administration has been quite transparent in its attitude towards legal immigration.

Permanently would mean the law would need to be changed by congress. EOs can be implemented and removed by the next administration

Never been a discussion for Parents but sibling visas I would be expect to be eliminated in the future.

There was at some point, with the idea that parents might instead get rolling long stay visas of some sort (I don’t recall all the details, like 5 year visas or something) rather than a permanent residence that leads to citizenship route.

Are you talking about the rolling visa idea? From what I can see it doesn’t have a practical impact on those who want their parents with them, keep rolling and no problem. From the perspective of protecting social security /medicaid it makes sense, if they don’t become citizens they can’t use it, many parents arrive having been sponsored near or after retirement age and haven’t contributed to these systems so their fiscal impact is disproportionately negative. There are already some limits on what such parents can use of course.

 

anyway that's a sidetrack, there have been so many different proposals for years and so far it’s just talk talk talk.

There are few VJ members whose parents’ I-130 was approved this week, or their account/case created at NVC.  I’m praying and hoping this ban on green cards is only temporal and will expire in 60 days.
