What did you send for forms?

I sent the I-485, two I-864s, I-944, I-765, and the G-1145

So they didn't cash your check?

No, we used a cashier's cheque and they sent it back with the forms

The USCIS phone line won't help at all. The package was rejected by the lockbox.

When people receive a rejection with the sentence about the priority date, the first they think is "K1 doesn't have a priority date". But that's not what the letter is talking about. The sentence means: since the AOS was rejected, they couldn't stablish a priority date for the AOS. That's not the reason for the rejection, it's the consequence. The letter should say more about the rejection. It usually says: you didn't include the I-864 or I-944 or you chose the wrong category.

If yours doesn't say anything else, send an email to the lockbox and they will be able to tell you the reason.

Yeah it doesn't say anything specific at all, it's so frustrating.

it just says

"Your I-485 fees, and any supporting documentation is being returned to you for the following reason(s):

Based on the information you provided, your priority date could not be established. Please resubmit your application with the proper documentation to the address listed on the bottom of this form"

then something about "the following documents nay be provided" but the only one relevant there to me was the 797 from my K-1, which I already included. Then much farther down it says the the application must be accompanied by the I-944 and I-864, both of which I also included and has their date stamps on it.

It looks like a stock letter, nothing specific on it at all...

Double-check and triple-check everything on all the forms, all of your supporting documents, current versions of forms, etc., to make sure everything is correct, then re-submit.  Good luck!

Can you post a pic of the rejection letter?

Did you include a copy of NOA2 of the I-129F and a copy of the stamped visa and your marriage certificate?  Why did you not file the I-131?

The NOA2 is the 797 approval notice, yes? The NOA1 is the first notification of receipt? Just to make sure I got this right..

I originally didn't file an I-131 because it's asking for specific travel info like departure date and length of trip, and while I'd really really like to be able to leave, I don't have anything booked right now, and with all the pandemic business I have no idea when it would even be feasible. do you think I should add one anyway?

but yeah, I included my marriage certificate, the visa, and the entry reccord pages in my passport

You don't need travel information. Just put TBD.

Your rejection is like a mix of all types of rejection letter I've seen before. It mentions all the possible mistakes, but it doesn't say which one caused the rejection. The first part of the letter refers to when you chose 2.a instead of 2.c. the second part refers to a missing 864 or 944. Then it says about payment. These are the main 3 reasons for rejection.

Did you send the email to the lockbox asking the reason?

Ah ok, well I might as well add it in now then, while I've got the opportunity.

Yeah, I emailed them, but bad luck of weekend+longer wait times now means I probably won't hear for a little while. I really hope someone there can just straight up tell me, I don't want to hire a lawyer to look over the whole thing just to tell me it was something on the other end.

I was kind of hoping it might have been one of the things people here have been suggesting, just so I could at least know and do it over confidently

yeah I double checked the 2a/ 2c part, and I definitely chose 2.c, the payment seems correct, and they even stamped the other I-864 and I-944s and returned them to me themselves.... so confusing

Many of the recent AOS rejections have been due to people inadvertently using prior versions of the forms, which were reissued on 2/24 I believe.  Is it possible you printed forms before they were revised?

What category did you chose for EAD?

I wonder if anyone can please help:

I entered the US on a K-1 fiance visa in late January, got married in NY in february, then filed for my AOS. After more than a month I get it returned to me today with a rejection notice that only says "Based on the information you provided, your priority date cannot be established" and online it just says it wasn't filed correctly, but no info on why or what was wrong or missing

I have NO idea what this means or why. I double checked all the forms, all are signed, all are completely filled out, I checked the fiance visa category box, and we paid the correct amount. I even have that new form I-944 all filled out with supporting evidence.

Does anyone have any idea? This is a nightmare to be trying to figure out in the middle of this pandemic, since I can't get ahold of anyone, and the field offices are closed

any tips at all would be a godsend! 😰

On the page 4 of 20 (I-485 form), item 13: You will have to leave that date blank (N/A) and select 2c on page 3 of 20.
