AOS returned - can't figure out why?

I wonder if anyone can please help:

 

I entered the US on a K-1 fiance visa in late January, got married in NY in february, then filed for my AOS. After more than a month I get it returned to me today with a rejection notice that only says "Based on the information you provided, your priority date cannot be established" and online it just says it wasn't filed correctly, but no info on why or what was wrong or missing

 

I have NO idea what this means or why. I double checked all the forms, all are signed, all are completely filled out, I checked the fiance visa category box, and we paid the correct amount. I even have that new form I-944 all filled out with supporting evidence. 

 

Does anyone have any idea? This is a nightmare to be trying to figure out in the middle of this pandemic, since I can't get ahold of anyone, and the field offices are closed

 

any tips at all would be a godsend! 😰

There was another topic about this and the OP check box 2b instead 2c( admitted as K1). Please double check your I-485.

already did, 2.c has been checked, says I'm applying as a K-1

$1,225 like it says on the USCIS website, and I even used their fee calculator feature to make sure there was nothing else for the other forms

Well you will know soon, K1 has no priority date, now they may have made an error, you may have made an error or they have used the wrong code for the error.

My money’s on error based on what you are saying

 

No way to tell unless you can get an officer on the phone.  I’d be burning that phone up to figure out why.

The USCIS phone line won't help at all. The package was rejected by the lockbox.

When people receive a rejection with the sentence about the priority date, the first they think is "K1 doesn't have a priority date". But that's not what the letter is talking about. The sentence means: since the AOS was rejected, they couldn't stablish a priority date for the AOS. That's not the reason for the rejection, it's the consequence. The letter should say more about the rejection. It usually says: you didn't include the I-864 or I-944 or you chose the wrong category.

 

If yours doesn't say anything else, send an email to the lockbox and they will be able to tell you the reason.
