  Did they make sure he wasn't already recovered before they ran with the article? Given the time frame, it's possible he was. Once you are immune, you don't really need a mask for any reason other than to blend in.

No, you must comply with the local laws.  No mask, no public for you.  And does one obtain immunity from infection?

   NY's requires people to wear masks when they are within 6 feet of others.

Some local communities (like a HOA, not the local government) are making it mandatory to wear a mask when outside.  They even have people driving around on golf carts informing people to wear a mask or go back inside.

    True, but as it pertains to Stephanopoulos, if he was not within 6 feet of anyone and if he had already recovered, then he could be outside without a mask and still be in compliance with local law. I'm not sure if either of those things were true, just saying they could be.

The story seems to indicate he was recovered, but still questionable regarding his wife.

  I'm not certain of the details either, just asking the questions. There are general guidelines for that too, usually quarantine is recommended for at least 2 negative tests, no symptoms for 3 days, and at least 8 days from the start of symptoms (14 days in severe cases). Personally I would continue to wear a mask even after that point, since they have seen several instances where the infection returns or lingers after appearing to have resolved. 

 

  I was tested once at work. Even with minor symptoms - just a sore throat, I was required to stay at home until the test result came back negative. People are not supposed to be outside during those time frames, mask or no mask.
