Hi everyone,

My fiance was waiting for his appointment that was scheduled for April 8th but unfortunately, COVID-19 happened and the consulate closed indefinitely. My question is, with the new executive order to suspend immigration for 60 days, will those whose visa appointments were canceled be affected as well? In other words, will those people who do not have their k 1 Visa's yet be affected?

Thank you kindly,

Fellow Vjer!

In what way do you mean affected? He needs to get his visa before he can even think of traveling. So first the embassy needs to open. Assuming the embassy opens, he has his visa appointment, he is approved and completes AP before the EO is lifted he still won’t be able to come as fiancés do not qualify under the exceptions.

Likely flights will still be a mess then anyway, EO or no EO. And that may he his biggest obstacle getting here.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!
