DS-260 Question: Social Security Number

My wife is going for an IR1 VISA and I'm not sure how we should respond to the "Do you want the social security administration to issue a social security number and card?"   

 

Can she request one with her green card?

She requests it here or in person once entering the US.

Depends on what you want.

 

If you want USCIS to tell SSA that a number is needed - check yes

If you want to go to SSA a week or two afterwards and request it - check no

Why would you want to come in a crowded SSA office? Of course click yes

It is so much easier and faster when you mark yes,  and let USCIS do it

some have had issues at SS office as not all the employees are will informed

We just didn't want to mark Yes if it was going to hold up the VISA unnecessarily.   Sounds like it won't.

We marked "Yes" on my wife's DS-260.  The SS card arrived 11 days after she entered the US.....It will have no impact on her visa.

My wife’s enter the USA on a  ir1 visa  then I pay the green card the Green Card already arrived but the social security card haven’t heard anything about When I filled out her DS-260 I check off yes I want a social security to be generate automatically ? It’s due to COVID-19 ?? When I called the social security office they her name wasn’t in the name but that was before received her Green Card Does USCIS notified the social security ?? I’m so confused
