Calling those who have a similar problem. I am holding K1 visa, already married and in US. My daughter was supposed to enter the US later in April holding K2 visa. Due to current corona situation she can’t enter the country  and her visa expires in the middle of May. Is there any possible visa extension Possible for her?

Well if needed she can obtain another visa with a new medical.

I think this is an interesting example to follow.

Isn't this where we get into a potential issue of the follow to join clock running out, where the petitioner had the option to enter for the better part of a year prior to the inability to travel?   Like comparing an immigrant aging out to the 1 year follow to join period.

I know it should be up to the consulate, and hopely it is, but administratively they had a year to file and travel, even tho the intent was follow to join.

I hope the K2 can travel and this is all moot.

Once we are past this I think I'm at the point where I'll start telling people here what I tell the families at the clinic - traveling as soon as you get the VIsa.  You never know what will come up.  My brother-in-law was ready to travel as a Filipino OFW but delayed his assignment for a few months and got caught up innocently in a drug raid while fishing on the beach.  He ended up stuck in jail for 2 months and lost the job and had his passport cancelled.

Have an upvote, certainly could see this as an issue, depends very much on the individual timing. And yes there is a risk delaying, and I can see in exceptiional circumstance a follow to joing may be unavoidable but seems surprisingly common.

I for one, cannot for the life of me understand why you have a K2 to follow. If "they" are coming why not when the mother does. It makes so much less work and children can adopt much more easily than adults due to a new culture. I have two K2's and within a week you thought they had lived here for years. Now they just want to visit their home country but never to live there again.

I think it comes, in part, that many feel it is a "try before buy visa".   I agree and if you are going to plan to get married you might was well bring the whole party with you.

You have no guarantee to get the K2 FTJ in the US on time.   Enter the US, wait 88 days to marry in a jurisdiction with slow return of marriage certificates, file AOS/AP/EAD, get an RFE or two, finally get AP, file the DS-160s, find a date 40 days away, fly out, do the medicals and interviews, get the VISAs on hand day 360 only to be  hit with a typhon closing the airport for 6 days.
