Wedding evidence and joint financial responsibilities

Hi everyone.

I'm helping my wife fill out her green card application (adjustment of status via spouse) and came across three hurdles.

1) Wedding evidence photos

2) Join assets / shared financial responsibilities

3) Her assets/income, etc.

For 1) So, we are only married via the legal system and haven't had our party yet. So, no wedding photos. I only have pictures from the day we went to go sign the document for the marriage certificate. I heard most people take photo albums to the interview, so, is it not important to provide these pictures in the packet right now?

2) Also regarding shared financial responsibilities, we currently have nothing shared. It seems like the application is asking to send these things in the packet, but, I thought this had to be shown prior to the interview? I was thinking about opening a bank account over the next few months prior to our interview/ maybe some phone bills and such. But in this instance we've only been focused on the packet and currently have nothing. Should we just provide papers of joint-ventures for the interview? Is this a big deal right now?

3) She just graduated college in her foreign school last year. She hasn't worked and owns nothing. My previous tax returns were all 100k+/year. I"m part of the "household". Is it a big deal for her to not have anything?

Thank you so much, we just got married two weeks ago here so gathering everything so quickly has been a little frustrating.

Send what you have, but if you have a party (if you are allowed depending on your state), gather those pictures for the interview.  We did not send any photos in with my wife’s AOS, but we did take them to the interview.

Same as above.  You can add moe evidence at the AOS interview.

You should be fine.  We were in a similar boat back when we did it, and remember the I864 is actually your form.

AOS from a K1, or another non-immigrant visa may not have a lot of evidence of commingling a marriage yet.  The important thing is you get the AOS package in as soon as possible to solidify a legal status for your foreign spouse with at least the minimum of the required evidence.  Create a file to gather additional marital evidence for the interview.

Good Luck!

1) It's fine. We also only had pictures of the court house wedding when we filed our application. We sent some of those with the packet and brought an album of the reception to the interview.

2) If you can easily add her to an existing account of yours (checking or credit card), I would do it and send that with the packet. Then, you can worry about having more evidence for the interview.

3) Shouldn't be an issue.

We only sent pictures (a few trips / the wedding) printed out on normal legal-sized paper; do not send whole traditional photo albums, for example (they may reject the entire package).

Our package was accepted for filing.

Will bring everything (shared bills / accounts, etc.) to the interview.
