Dear VJ members,

I have a question.  Is anyone completing/trying to complete the DS 160 ? My fiancee is having an issue completing the DS-160 form. Throughout the application, there is NO option to upload the passport size photo (and she can submit the application without the photo). Which is UNUSUAL to us. I was wondering if it is NEW. Is there a glitch on the website? Is the photo mandatory or not?

Please, advise

Thanks

You're the second one to report this problem. I think it's a glitch. Take the photo with you to the interview and give to the CO. It's done all the time without a problem.

The DS 160 was submitted without a photo and they said on the confirmation page to bring the photo to the interview.

Thanks

So it would just be an extra passport photo then?

No, the system allows to submit without uploading the photo, but they are asking to bring a photo to the interview.

Right, that;'s what I mean. So you would just bring an extra passport style photo to the interview for the DS 160?

No, unless it's in the P3 for your embassy. Most embassies do not require any passport photos at the time of the interview. Your embassy requires two photos. See below for all the requirements.

This is what is needed for your interview.

-Intent to Marry Letter signed by the petitioner and dated within 30 days of the interview date.
-Passport, valid for at least 6 months beyond the date you plan to enter the United States.
-Canadian Immigration documents, if applicable.
-Birth certificate.
-Marriage certificate(s).
-Death and/or divorce certificate(s) for petitioner and for beneficiary, if applicable.
-Police certificates from each country in which the applicant has resided for 6 months or longer since the age of 16. Canadian police certificate(s) must be issued within one year of the visa appointment.
-Court records.
-Military records.
-Certified translation of foreign civil documents and foreign police certificates.
-Signed Affidavit of Support (1-134) with all supporting financial documents.
-Evidence of petitioner's domicile in the United States.
-Evidence of relationship between petitioner and beneficiary.
-Two recent photographs ---http://travel.state.Rov/content/visas/en/general/photos.html.
-I have read the Rights and Protections for Foreign-Citizen Fiancé(e)s and --Spouses of U.S. Citizens and Spouses of Lawful Permanent Residents pamphlet, available here: https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/general/IMBRA.html.

To be safe check the P3 from your embassy when you receive a copy. It will explain everything there to what is needed. Not every embassy requires certain documents.

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

@greenbaum thanks for your guidance, as always!

I didn't mean to cause confusion. I was just wondering if it would be acceptable to bring a passport style photo if unable to upload with the DS-160. In addition to the two recent photo requirements.

Yes. When you submit your DS-160 it normally is a requirement to upload a photo. Lately, many are reporting that they are not being asked. I can only think that either they change this requirement to upload and going with a photo being submitted at the interview OR there is a glitch in the DS-160.
