Is it OK for me to work with my spouse to fill out the DS-260?   She only has a tablet and a smartphone, whereas I have a PC I can pull the form up on.   I was thinking we'd talk over whatsapp as I fill in the answers for her.

However, at the end of the sample app, I see there is a question that asks if anyone assisted you.   Is it bad to answer "yes" to this?

Thanks

That is exactly what my wife and I did.  We worked on her DS-260 together from different locations.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Were you logged into the CEAC site as the Petitioner when you were doing this?

It is actually bad to answer “NO” when someone assisted in filling the forms. So answer “Yes”. I did the same for my wife.

This! When my fiancé applied for his B2 Tourist Visa I helped him complete his DS-160. He did mark "Yes" to that question on the bottom of the form. No questions were asked about it during the interview. Obviously this is a different visa, but either way it seems reasonable to say you helped them answer if they didn't understand some of the questions.
