Because it might be over before my visa expires.

fair enough, the chances of it not being extended in circa 60 days are very slim imo, i dont see how most will be back to work by then and unemployment will still be high unfortunately.

Spouse is USC, should we file my AOS now? Or wait on more details?

Also any idea if this will effect AP and EAD?

yes, USCIS is open - apply sooner the better. It seems likely the worst case you`ll be delayed with the suspension, but most reports have said spouses wouldnt be affected. Apply for the AP and EAD too.

But it's not all for nothing, you have a visa and if it needs to be re-issued they'll re-issue it,  Having confidence in the system is what you got you to this point, don't give up on it now..

I don't have a problem with it being re-issued.  However, we will have to pay the visa fee and medical checkup fee all over again.  Plus, she needs to pay for a hotel stay and flight to get to the hospital.  The delay is one thing, but the money is another :(

Hoping for a positive outcome still....trying anyway.

It's definitely harrowing, I'll update you today on my Embassy trip what they advise, they said to bring money in hand but if they waive it all the better.

I mean, what is even the point of a K1 visa if when it comes to the crunch, if you're not a 'spouse' already, you're left out in the cold?? Its not as if it's a flippant tourist visa and we get married and adjust from there. We apply and wait out the process legally as an engaged couple planning to wed.

I know we dont have any clarification on the EO just yet but nowhere in any article that anyone has posted has mentioned the word 'fiance', and the EU/UK travel ban left us out of that too.

“It has to be cleared legally,” Conway told reporters. “I know he’s itching to sign it, but it’s a matter of when it’s ready,” she said.

hopefully this means everything has got scaled back to keep it legal.

Hope so too. I feel for those who cannot activate their visas but hopefully this delay at least scales back what he wanted to do. The conflicting reports had begun to worry me, some saying family visas are exempt, some saying its ONLY for family visas etc.

I think the k1 is safe because it is a non-immigrant visa.... however adjusting status might get hairy.

are you in the US?

That'd be rich. A ban to protect jobs that doesn't ban any work visas! Very doubtful that would be the case, but I'm on the fence if family visas will be exempt or not. If they are, I expect this "second order" will be to tighten the exemptions to potentially just spouses and their minor children.

No unfortunately, I am in the UK. I have my K1 in hand, was supposed to travel on the 8th Apr and it expires on the 9th Jun. I had just come to terms with the idea of having to get it reissued as advised by the embassy here if it expires, but then this wonderful announcement has sent us (and everyone) into a state of panic 😔

It's always such a grey area with K1s in the technicality of it being non immigrant and immigrant, that's why I'm additionally confused!

I saw a new outlet report it this morning, I forget who it was lol. That employer visas are exempt but family are blocked. It would be absurd but would I really be surprised? No. In a normal world. I assume only employer based greencards will be put on hold

A bluff?  I doubt that.  Trump has been quite transparent about his position on immigration, both legal and illegal.

100% correct.  This is no bluff.......What is your opinion on the exemption for medical workers?  I thought there were a lot of Nurses being furloughed.....

I hope so. I cant think for the life of me he would exclude immediate family considering he is married to an immigrant. But what do i know.
