According to that article, us citizens sponsorsing relatives should still be fine?

In the ongoing WH briefing. He made it clear that this is in fact about potential green card seekers and will not affect temporary work visas like H1-B.

absolute bonkers but still we have to see the official draft but i don’t see any chance there tbh

Interesting. Why block potential green card seekers? If they are going through work-based route they are already employed and have been waiting for years. It's not like a waiter can just jump on and do a computer scientist job.

That's messed up. LPRs are contributing to the country just as much as USCs

Same boat but here's the quote from him today.

"This order will only be applied to individuals seeking permanent residents in order words GREEN CARD holders, WILL NOT BE APPLIED TO THOSE ENTERING ON A TEMPORARY BASIS..." Trump 6:00pm April 21st

But does K1 count as a temporary basis? And if you were to enter during the EO and then marry your spouse, would you submit AOS as normal and just wait?

Yeah I did see that but we are in a weird position where we are moving and getting married and then applying for the GC. So what happens at that point?

Are you doing CR-1 marriage or K1 fiance. Mine is K1 fiance. Once you're here and you get married within 90days, you pretty much stamp it right there. The AOS can wait later. Importance here is getting our significant others to the States, the rest will sort out itself.

All of this is speculation... until the EO comes out.

But is it safe to say that this EO will only apply to NEW GC seekers? Those who already have a GC, conditional or permanent (10-year), and are already here in the US should be ok?

wondering the same as a conditional greencard holder

It's just really counterintuitive. Employment immigrants are applying for green card because they are EMPLOYED. Whatever happens during the crisis and after does not have any association with those people. People I know who work in the "big tech" have been working at home and are not taking away anybody's job during this crisis. They have been employed since before this and for many that's years of waiting on H1B. It's absolutely unfair and miss-target to stop those people from immigrating. Sounds to me like a politically based decision.
