Exactly, and isn't that what the Affidavit of Support is for?  That's a legal document stating I will support her financially while living here in the USA.

Exactly my thoughts. Let’s hope for the best. Fingers crossed.

I wouldn't waste your time watching that. Just read the official order once it comes out - that's what matters.

NYT is saying children and spouses of citizens yes, of GC holders no.

The president is expected on Tuesday evening to announce a temporary pause in the issuance of most green cards, a move that would close the United States off to tens of thousands of people seeking to join family members or accept employment during the coronavirus crisis, a person familiar with the president’s plans said.

But Mr. Trump, who declared his intention to “suspend immigration” in a late-night tweet on Monday, has backed off plans to also halt guest worker programs that bring farm laborers, high-tech employees and others to America using special visas.

Business groups had exploded in anger Tuesday at the threat of losing their access to foreign labor.

Instead, the executive order, which Mr. Trump is expected to announce during Tuesday’s coronavirus task force briefing, will focus on preventing foreigners from obtaining permission to live and work in the United States.

Last year, about 1 million people were granted green cards, though the order will not bar all of them. American citizens seeking to bring their children or spouses to the United States will still be allowed to do so, the person said.

But the path to winning permanent legal status in the United States would be blocked for most other foreigners, including the relatives of current green card holders and those seeking green cards based on a job offer, the person said.

Just found out that Orange County has started issuing marriage licenses. I'm keeping that in my back pocket for now. I still have no idea if this will affect my fiance's L1B renewal.

We had been saving up to pay for the I-130 packet fees, and were just about ready to file at last when everything went effectively on pause... This is so disheartening to hear.

Even if nothing is being processed right now, should we attempt to send our packet? I just want my husband here with me, now more than ever and feel like there's no end in sight. 😢

I hear you. I had the I-129F on the computer screen (completing it) when last night's fiasco was happening.

No mention of "fiances" of US citizens anywhere so far in these reports..."spouses" usually always means legally married.

Bloomberg -

"The new policy would deny entry for people seeking most types of work visas for at least 90 days, according to a draft order obtained by Bloomberg News.

But it includes exceptions for people seeking jobs in “food production and directly helping to protect the supply chain,” which could apply to farm workers."

Does anyone else see the irony that in a supposed free market that farm workers get an exemption but why is this ? because they work for under the market price than a typical USC would cost to do the same job. These immigrants arent (typically) bringing special skills into the workplace, heck id graft on a farm for $40 / hour ...the fact is farms and governments artifically keep the cost of labour down by hiring people into jobs that its obvious there would be enough USC workers able to do the job, they just wont do it for the same type of wage and conditions.

These are usually temporary workers and they just work during planting, harvesting, key ag operations.

Conflicting report from Bloomberg, which is saying this:

Refugees and asylum seekers would not be affected by the order, nor would spouses and children of U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Either NYT got wrong EO draft or Bloomberg did.

My conditional green card expires June 2021. Hopefully it doesn't effect my case in anyway. Good luck and the best to those who are going to be affected by this. :(

AFAIK, if you file on time and have a paper trail that you've done so (and followed any special USCIS instructions due to COVID-19), you should be fine, just delayed. Only complications you might have is renewing your drivers' license and such, but you're not gonna get kicked out of your job just because your card expired. Document everything, and make sure you have a duplicate packet available as evidence, just in case.
