Will we have to wait until the executive order is signed for the details? I’m out of the US on AP awaiting my green card. I am not going back to the US for the foreseeable future because Canada has far less cases of covid-19, and it is safer here for my small children until this starts to dissipate. I have been waiting for my green card for almost a year and a half (Seattle is really backlogged). I wonder what would even happen if I tried to cross the border? I don’t have my green card yet and my AP expires in Aug.

This inarticulate tweeting causing mass hysteria has got to stop. Don’t announce anything until the details are also available!

I wonder if our Seattle backlog for marriage-based AOS interviews will clear a bit if the EO is geared toward the H1Bs.  We waited for over a year for my husband's interview, which was January 30 of this year (thank god!).

Btw, I saw a post from a K-1 visa holder from BC who stated that she was turned away at Peace Arch crossing when trying to enter with her K-1, last weekish.  Pretty surprising.

Will Trump's immigration suspension affect the Citizenship process?

"Trump administration officials on Tuesday morning scrambled to finalize an executive order after President Donald Trump said in a late-night tweet he would temporarily suspend immigration to the United States as the nation battles the health and economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

"In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens, I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States!" he tweeted."

It shouldn’t.

I'm still hoping the Spouse/Fiance Visas are excluded from this order....especially since we signed Affidavit of Supports showing that we can support them while they legally cannot work.  Hoping that is taken into consideration.

Me too, same reasons.

Is there even the slightest possibility that immigrants and others coming to America could have the virus?

If this is about stopping the virus, why isn't he talking about stopping all international air travel?  I can book a flight from Mexico to the U.S. right now.  That's a lot easier than going through a 2-year-long immigration process.  I see this tweet as just a way to fire people up, which is about all this guy knows how to do with any degree of competency.  Hopefully it's just more nonsense that doesn't mean anything.

All non-essential travel across the border is blocked right now. Unfortunately K-1 is considered non-essential.

Wife came here on K1, we married within 90 days, and we are now waiting on our AOS receipt. So does this mean it's just gonna get rejected? I guess it's speculation at this point...

Can we all just take a deep breathe and stop thinking too hard? Trump supporters and non supporters, please calm down.

It's his time to make choices as the President and he has the right to implement what ever policies he feels it's good and of great benefits to his country, so take take a break from all this unnecessary arguments and debate.

The Bible says, that the heart of man is in the hands of God. At the end, if it is Gods will that we eventually meet our spouses, change location, adopt a new life and work outside our region, him alone will determine that.

A man who thought he was greater than God and was mean to people who opposed him, is currently with God almighty.(This happened few days ago in my country)

Let's have the fear of God in us all, and remember, we are all strangers on earth.

Have a blessed day!

speaking as someone with a political science degree, who has very strong opinions on immigration matters and is happy to discuss them at length in the appropriate settings, I can’t emphasise how deeply frustrating it is to come to this thread for information and to see it completely polluted by people debating the merits. have empathy and be considerate to people who are reading this to get some sense of whether their lives are about to radically alter

Couldn't agree with you more.    I started following this thread last night for information and was shocked to wake up this morning seeing the thread had turned into huge political flame wars.

Sounds like the mods are keeping a handle on this now.
