When the "Muslim" travel ban was instituted, were folks from affected countries with approved immigrant visas in their passports still allowed to enter? My parents in law have approved IR-5 immigrant visas in their passports (their interviews were completed back in late Jan thankfully before all embassies got shut down) and have flight tickets to enter the US mid-June. Trying to get a better sense of past EO implementations to see if I should be moving up their flights to early May instead before the EO gets implemented

Several dozen posts have been removed for derailing, pure political venom, and posts quoting.

Multiple warnings from Moderation have been ignored, as one member has learned the hard way.

-------

As others have suggested, not enough is known about this suggested action to be worthy of panic.

Before drawing judgments, please keep that in mind and wait for more information.

Everyone sympathizes with the natural trauma of the immigration process and the additional stress of the unknown.

Please keep the faith.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

any better clarification this morning? i have looked through cnn, politico and usual sources and it says something different everywhere, AKA just speculative Most seem to say it will only include employment visas that have yet to be issued outside the USA but some articles are still peddling "all immigration"

I read everywhere, i could not see one article mentioning family visas. Not a single one

Hi guys, his tweet speaks specifically about immigration into the US, but anything on those who are ALREADY here in the US? We (wife and I) are about to go through removing condition on a green card here and any chances that might be affected?

Thanks guys.

Thanks guys.

I am in the same boat (but next year) and in this thread, most of us guessed we would not be affected as we are already permanent residents

Right, but it falls under "suspend immigration" until we get some clarification anything and everything is on the table.

I think the short answer is nobody knows anything, including what exactly is meant by "immigration." The President is not known for his precise word choice, so whether this is about immigration visas specifically or all visas or only work visas is anyone's guess. In fact, administration lawyers have not even developed the policy yet: https://www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/coronavirus-trump-immigration/2020/04/21/a2a465aa-837a-11ea-9728-c74380d9d410_story.html?itid=mc_magnet-coronavirus_2 . This article suggests it might be published Tuesday.

Good thing there's a medical exam before receiving the green card.

We have yet to see whether COVID19 testing or antibody titers will be added to the GC medical exam requirements.

At this point, it is still all speculation.  I haven't checked yet to see whether the May 2020 Visa Bulletin has been released - as of yesterday it had not, which some took as a clue.

Will Trump's immigration suspension affect the Citizenship process?

"Trump administration officials on Tuesday morning scrambled to finalize an executive order after President Donald Trump said in a late-night tweet he would temporarily suspend immigration to the United States as the nation battles the health and economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

"In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens, I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States!" he tweeted."

President Trump is stopping the virus by temporarily halting immigration.

Uh, too late for that.  It is already here.
