Like him or not, Trump is clearly not a details person. He conceives of a big idea, tweets about it and then has his people figure out the details.

In my opinion, his ideas often come from a place of sincerity, and whether you like them or not, he means well for the country (though obviously that is subject to what he wants for the country). In this case, he’s not wrong that there is some merit to at least temporarily curtailing some immigration, like maybe new H1B visas from China. The trouble lies in the details-there’s practically no merit to curtailing, or even delaying, spousal visas for Canadians already here AOSing, and obviously the same goes for many others in between the 2 extremes.

The bottom line is that there aren’t any details yet because he hasn’t even thought them out, let alone vet them against the technicalities of the law-that’s not how he works. When those details do come out, they will almost certainly be a lot less threatening (to a lot of people) than they are now, just like the many other times he’s freaked everyone out.

Well said, except his ideas come from place of sincerity,  mostly come from feeling what will make him win election and make him look good to his base.

The last one was my absolute favorite! Hope yesterday´s Trump Tweet has no effect on this! Thanks!

Who knows, but I doubt it would impact anything related to USCIS and AOS, but who knows.

It will be interesting if it only impacts employment based visas, but that would make the most sense.

Exactly, since everyone is saying that he wants to stop immigrants from taking the USC’s work opportunities. He might Be totally targeting them

Employment based visas are not immigrant visas, his tweet is about immigration

Then why is it called Employment based immigrant visa?

Makes sense least from stopping any potential spread from outside sources. I suspect this will be the case in most countries until vaccination is complete.

Kudos to the President for thinking outside the box.

Uh, the virus is already HERE.  And this argument might hold water if he wasn’t talking out of the other side of his mouth about reopening domestically.  Georgia and Florida will be our Petrie dishes.

It is delusional to think this is about Covid19.

H1Bs, O-1s, L-1s, and E-2s are all employment based dual intent visas allowing for AOS just like a K-1.

I think that is why the speculation that this will impact only employment based visas.  Something to do with 30% or more unemployment.

So if it's regarding new visas - I assume those who already got their visas but have not entered US yet, should still be fine, yes?

Should be, but everything is speculation at this point.

Nobody knows yet, but I hope the ones that already have approved visas can still enter in the country before it expires.  If not, that would be a total kick in the privates for those of us who went thru a whole ordeal getting this visa.
