It would expire even though folks can’t use it due to pandemic and not due to their own fault?

Same here!!

Unfortunately yes. I myself have an approved petition at NVC and I just got finished paying my fees. This is extremely stressful

If the point is to slow down the spread of the virus and you are outside the US, you will be definitely subjected to this policy. My condolence to the folks that got their visa but can't travel due to international flights lockdown, this pandemic could last for years hence this EO will. If you got visa and can travel to the US, book a flight ASAP.

AP is a black hole and there’s no set amount of time that anyone can give you for it to be released. Just keep praying for this all to be over soon.

This EO will last as Trump is President, if he gets reelected, at least 5 more years. His ultimate goal has always been to stop all immigration.

President Donald Trump said Monday that he is temporarily suspending immigration to the United States in response to the coronavirus pandemic and the "need to protect jobs."

In a tweet Monday night (April 20th), the president attributed the suspension to an "attack from the Invisible Enemy" and the "need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens."

Anybody have any other news or opinions on this? Do you think it would have an effect on K1 fiance or spouse visas?

Wife came here on a k1 visa, just submitted AOS a second time (1st time was rejected due to outdated form), might get rejected AGAIN due to leaving some parts blank on the I-944, not giving evidence of equivalency of foreign high school,  etc...

How would this affect us?

I’m seriously thinking of going back to my original country of Germany. US didn’t handle the pandemic well and with mass layoffs and more riots/social unrest, things are getting worse.

Cue Corporate America whining that they can't find workers when 22 million Americans are unemployed. The H1B and OPT programs should be canceled outright.

Yes, I'm sure the laid off restaurant and retail workers could easily transition into agriculture or IT.

The H1B and OPT programs should be cancelled, because you shouldn't need a government permission slip to hire a foreigner or for a foreigner to accept employment.

I'm still in Germany but I want to be with my husband. I don't care where that is. My husband is a US Marine so I don't even have another choice!

I really feel you. I live in Europe as well but my fiancé is in the Marine Corps and wouldn’t be able to move over here. The US is the only choice we have to be together and finally be a family.
This situation is emotionally draining, and it probably shouldn’t be this hard to be with your loved ones.
