Hi guys. I was wondering if you could shed light on my own situation? My husband was due to have a CR-1 interview mid March at a neighboring country's US Embassy, but both countries closed their borders just a 3 days prior to my husband's interview and we already had a hotel booked and he was going to travel in two days in March to get to it. Then the Embassy rescheduled him 8 weeks forward, BUT that didn't help either as both countries (where my husband is a national and the neighboring country that does the interviews) borders were announced to be closed further yet again. So his rescheduled interview is supposed to be May 8th, but the countries will supposedly reopen borders only on May 10....initially the border closure was for 10 days (yeah right!). So basically 2 months of waiting now for the rescheduled interview to also be postponed and I did write to US embassy yesterday asking to reschedule it the 3rd time now, since borders won't be open (haven't gotten response from embassy yet), but today i saw Trump's announcement and this further devastated our situation...I wanted to know how this immigration suspension now would affect our continuous postponed interview even if the borders open soon between those two countries and what happens to our CR-1 situation? Is this going to be annulled now for us at the last minute like this? What does temporarily even mean....we are so frustrated now as he keep not being able to get to his interview. Can't believe that this happened just before he was going to enter the neighboring country after all this time of waiting back in mid-March.

can someone please help me with my question regarding how this could affect cr-1 cases that are close to be interviewed ...

Will this order halt processing of N400 applications?

I doubt it.  Now of course N400 adjudications and oath ceremonies are being delayed due to closures of local offices, an N400 applicant is already an LPR.

This passport situation is unbelievable. It's practically banning you from leaving the country. When did you apply? Before they stopped issuing them?

The detailed version of the story is even more outrageous.

Before all the international travel bans were in place, I had been due to go to South America at the end of March to visit my fiance. Because of that, I was eligible for an in-person passport appointment to get a rapid passport. The appointment was for 3/16. Just prior the appointment, they cancelled. I was rescheduled for 3/23.

Then abruptly on 3/19, the Dept of State announced it was no longer offering in-person appointments unless someone had a life/death emergency. Furthermore, they suspended "expedited service" (2-3 weeks) effectively immediately.

My only option was to then apply on 3/20 via "routine service" - at the time I did that they said the wait would be 6-8 weeks.

On 3/24 I received confirmation and a tracking number. That number worked for a few weeks - "in progress"

Now it says "application not found - we found no active application" (others have also said their applications have disappeared from the tracking system).

So - I paid the fee, they didn't issue a passport and I don't have the citizenship certificate.

CITIZENSHIP TIMELINE

4/2019: Submitted N400

5/2019: Biometrics (3 weeks)

2/2020: Interview (10 months)

3/2020: Oath & naturalization (11 months)

6/2020: Passport received (3 months)

My fiancee is literally getting on a plane in two hours to come to the US on K1 visa and I just saw this.

We're going for it to try and get her in before the door closes, but thoughts? Honestly this is the most stressful thing I could have imagined at this moment.

Good luck, but you guys might make it in just in the nick of time as the effects of the EO will take a few days to filter-out and take hold.

in your case where your husband has not had an interview, it is hard to say.  Since he faces limitations on travel which has nothing to do with US immigration, and the fact that consulates are closed, he will definitely be delayed.  If Trump can really restrict legal immigration beyond what the logistics have already done is questionable, so it is hard to say how this would add to your husband’s delays in potentially getting a CR1 visa.

Thank you, I have a route to go, I plan to go from LHR-EWR-DEN. I've asked my husband to book me the first flight, I'm hoping for the weekend as I have a job which I'm transferring to the US as well so wanted to give my boss a couple of days notice.

Hope you make it! This is an extraordinary situation and your boss should understand the urgency in case you have to leave even earlier. I was curious so I checked the tickets on Google flights and they are surprisingly inexpensive (London to NY). Maybe the EO won't apply to approved immigrant visa holders. Fingers crossed.

"Halt on work visas"...what do you think H-2A visas are (and they are not banning these)? They are especially for farm labor  --- that might I remind you, are especially essential for Americans to eat! Last I checked, I never saw a single American out in the farm digging dirt to feed the rest of us!

The news articles I read indicate that farm labor would be excluded from the suspension... And spare the digging dirt bit, theirs hundreds of dirty jobs in the US spread across all races, Mining in particular

LPRs and citizens can still fly home I believe

I would certainly hope so but given the unprecedented events lately I wouldn't be so sure (about the LPRs). Note that even US citizens can't get new passports at this time. Only the latter even have the right to enter the US. So if I were a LPR abroad I'd try to get back to the US ASAP.

Well it's not a complete ban but a temporary suspension...

But, yes, what now?

I was about submit I-129F this week :(

Now they will probably say, anyone who applies from 4/21 onwards will just go into a holding box....

You're right, that's what I feels too
