Do you know the emotional trauma people go through being separated from their loved ones for years. If you think he's doing this bcos of coronavirus how about the non immigrants that is been allowed then?

I think @TVC was being sarcastic.

All speculation. No need to get worked up over what we do not know and have no control over.

It is incredibly frustrating but lets see what happens.

This article explains more in details: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/trump-says-he-will-issue-order-to-suspend-immigration-during-coronavirus-crisis-closing-off-the-united-states-to-a-new-extreme/ar-BB12X2LT?ocid=mailsignout1902.

Unless it is fake news as Trump loves to say to everything other than his own fake news.

Honestly, I don't think immigration services will resume again unless, or until Trump is voted out of office. I have a suspicion this order will be for 6+ months. Essentially during the rest of his administration until November.

I agree.

TVC was highlighting the hypocrisy of the decision - if everything is improving so wonderfully (as Trump & co like to claim) there should be no reason to shut down something.

I relate to the emotional trauma

While some of the previous EO were blocked by the courts. I have a feeling this one, at least initally, is going to go into effect. Similar to how the current bans from China and Europe were not blocked. The fact that the country is currently in a state of crisis will make if very difficult for a judge to overturn such an action.

Very good point.

People are hurt by this. I have been separated from wife for 3years so are many others who has been separated years longer than mine. This is no joke folks. He should consider others feelings too. Offcourse he knows this will affect loved ones that are separated

Actually, I'm not panicking, I'm actually not surprised at the level of depravity this man is willing to go to. Thank goodness he doesn't band Americans from leaving as this is exactly what I planning on doing (depending on how restrictive the EO is), as I can't wait another year (beyond the 2+ already) or more to reunite with my family.

Of course not. If you think about it...the people who "legally" immigrate to the US already are some of the most healthiest people in America. Why? Because of all the medical checks, vaccinations and the scrutiny we have to go through (many, many Americans who are born here don't even get the broad level of vaccinations immigrants are subjected to --- many Ani-Vax people). Secondly, what jobs can he be protecting when there are "NO JOBS" -- no economy. If he made the argument that he was protecting further spread of COVID-19 into the country, that would be a different argument (although, with no time nor desire to discuss such things here, the merits of that argument is still baseless).

We also have the most cases here, maybe considering to ban Americans from going elsewhere would be the better tactic lol. Sorry. I know many are hurt and afraid in this threat. But I can only laugh about the absurdity

This is exactly true. This article shares more analysis on why this wouldn't be challenged in the courts: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/trump-says-he-will-issue-order-to-suspend-immigration-during-coronavirus-crisis-closing-off-the-united-states-to-a-new-extreme/ar-BB12X2LT?ocid=mailsignout1902
