06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

Oiii - woke up to the news and just read through the entire thread. I feel for the WH staff who's probably already debating to call out sick in the morning. I wouldn't want to clean up this mess lol...

Besides immigration being on hold already, there are some things that come to mind

- How many jobs would he put at stake with this? USCIS, DOS - would they be furloughed?

- What negative impact would this have on the economy? Work visas are mainly given to workers that are needed. Something in me doesn't believe that his gun fetishs currently out blocking ambulance entries in their fight for "freedom" will be able to fill the jobs that a halt on work visas would leave available.

- Does he know that work visas are non-immigrant visas?

- Is he fighting to OPEN the country, or to CLOSE it? I'm confused 🥴But yeah, LIBERATE [fill in your state, unless you live in NY, CA, or similar]

Dont worry    Be happy and listen some good music. And all is well.  I am going to call president in morning to not ban us from coming to americA.

I am exactly in the same boat!

My wife lives in Houston (Missouri city) and I live in downtown Toronto. We just received our NOA2 and are now filing for NVC processing but are waiting for finger printing services to reopen so I can get my police certificate.

I hope everything works out for us.

Honestly, I don't think immigration services will resume again unless, or until Trump is voted out of office. I have a suspicion this order will be for 6+ months. Essentially during the rest of his administration until November.

Time to reopen our country because we don't have to be scared of this virus but we need to shut down all legal immigration because this virus is out of control.

Do you know the emotional trauma people go through being separated from their loved ones for years. If you think he's doing this bcos of coronavirus how about the non immigrants that is been allowed then?

Unsolicited. My thoughts, after letting this news settle for a few hours.

(1) The word “temporary” is promising. Even in the unlikely event of a worst-case scenario, where Trump bans all immigration, and stops green card processing, the ban will be lifted at some point.

(2) In all likelihood, Trump’s order will apply to specific categories of immigrants, rather than a total immigration ban. He specifically mentions employment in his tweet, and is therefore likely to curtail the ban to green card lotteries, employment sponsored visas, etc.

(3) Trump often tweets overly broad statements that are later refined. He exaggerates everything, and you can’t take him literally. Case in point: Muslim ban, or, as recent as the “total ban on travel from Europe,”—the administration never even clarified that American citizens could return home.

(4) The Courts would likely block any outright ban on family-based immigration into the US, and bog down the order in litigation.

(5) In-person interviews and services at USCIS, and embassies abroad, are currently suspended anyway. This order could be seen as a codification of what‘s already happening in practice, anyway, so that Trump appeals to his base and comes across as being proactive in stopping COVID.

(6) If I’m wrong about 1-6, use it as an excuse to leave this terrible country for greener pastures, and meet your SO somewhere else?

My guess is that applications for AOS that are currently being processed will be adjudicated, albeit delayed. Also, my intuition is that the order will direct USCIS to stop processing applications that are received on a certain date.

Ultimately, I would recommend patience, if you have filed for AOS, to see the exact wording of the order, or a mad-dash to file for AOS if you’re here on a K1, even though it may not be necessary. In the end, I think most everyone will still get the benefit they’re seeking, but there might be delays—focus on the word temporary.

Best wishes to everyone—it’s a cruel method from the administration to release this news, and add more fuel to the fire of a world in complete chaos.

2) He may be mentioning "jobs" to justify the ban well beyond the pandemic crisis. The economic consequences COVID-19 may last for years and so may the ban on immigration.

The administration can use the post-pandemic economic disaster - more than the virus - as the main basis for a much longer ban.

What, is the USCIS and NVC just going to stop working all together?  I mean, if no immigration is allowed, what would these agencies even do?

The irony of it all - job losses caused by an alleged effort to protect the jobs of Americans. Of course that’s not what’s it’s really about.

Sorry should have implied the sarcasm when writing :) I am not worried and told my spouse abroad not to worry either. Late night tweets from this guy generally make me laugh, shake my head, move on...

All speculation. No need to get worked up over what we do not know and have no control over.

It is incredibly frustrating but lets see what happens.
