I don’t think they’d terminate greencard renewals either. If all visas from outside the US and AOS are suspended, the only certain sources of revenue would be from greencard renewals and citizenship applications. It would be really unwise to turn off that golden tap too, especially after all these people have been vetted over and again throughout the process and are basically throwing money at the department.

While some of the previous EO were blocked by the courts. I have a feeling this one, at least initally, is going to go into effect. Similar to how the current bans from China and Europe were not blocked. The fact that the country is currently in a state of crisis will make if very difficult for a judge to overturn such an action.

Wow, I was visiting my american fiance when the lock down happened, was supposed to fly back to France late march , get my interview and then move here on a K1. When the lock down happened and my interview was postponed to June, we decided I would stay here as my return flight was cancelled, my current tourist visa expires may 13th and this throws massive doubt on our case. Do we risk getting unable to see each other for a long time if I fly back? Do we have any alternatives? I mean I'm currently in the US, it's confusing

I doubt renewals of GCs could be suspended (unless LPR statuses get revoked which is even more unlikely). But administrative technical issues may occur if USCIS cannot operate normally, which could affect naturalization processing as well as GC renewals (but not the LPR status).

Ah yes, I went onto Google what happens to your status if the card expires. Still a little blurry what it means for people with conditional residence permits (ie myself). Hopefully nothing beyond delays.

$100 bet for $10k payout that it only impacts working visas? I'd love to take that bet. Get it on PredictIt and I'm in.

Looks like it (except H-2)..

Does anyone know if Trump is by law required to specify the time limitation beyond which the executive order will expire? That would definitely help with the anxiety here... Uncertainty is cruel to us.

President have rights in constitution  he can do  it and i dont think there is any time limit for that order

Especially since a national emergency has been invoked. Watch it stay that way until there is a vaccine in 12-18 months

That could be considered "illegal gambling" so you'd have to answer positively to the pertaining question on I-485 or N-400 :) Just kidding. I think it will affect work visas and probably all new GCs, especially the EB ones. Work visas alone effectively already are suspended due to consular processing not happening. The most concerning is that the EO would be justified on economic grounds (not just health) which could mean the suspension could last for years.

@Geowrian not sure I understand what's your bet, ie what you think/dont think will happen

I would bet that it will impact more than just work visas.

I'm not saying it necessarily won't...but a $100 bet for a $10k payout is a no-brainer. There's not nearly enough information to be so confident in anything so specific.

Yes but i doubt that he will stop all this application and processing stuff i think this suspension will be same like his travel ban.
