Oct and Dec Pds transferred to Vermont and California

I applied for two i130s for my wife and stepson in October. But on my wife's application we accidentally used an outdated form. So long story short my stepsons was accepted Oct 26th 2019 and my wife's Dec 4th 2019.

Today I found out by calling that my stepsons case was transferred to Vermont in February and my wife's case was transferred to California on April 1st. We never received any notice of transfer.

The lady told me the wait time for Vermont was 16 to 22 months but only 6 month for California. She told me to write a letter to California and ask them to transfer my stepson's case from Vermont to California.

I explained in the letter that he is only 6 years old and how we originally tried to file the applications together. Do you think we will be successful in getting his case to California to be with my wife's case? Is it true that the wait time for California is only 6 months?

Thanks!

These are separate I-130 cases.  There is no guarantee that they will be processed at the same time even if at the same service center.  If one case reaches NVC first, you can delay the process there for that one until the 2nd case "catches up".  Then, when they are both sent to the consulate, you can request they both be interviewed together.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

So about 14.5 months for Vermont and 6 months for California.

Depressing that they won't just transfer them both to California. The lady on the phone seemed to think we had a good chance of them doing that.

Look at those dates again.......the VJ reports indicate that Vermont is well ahead of California......  They might honor your request, but I haven't seen that happen.

Omg I looked at that backwards. So its 14.5 months for California and only 6 months for Vermont? How can this be? How could the lady on the phone be so off with her estimates?

After reading a bunch of other posts on this forum I must say I have no idea of the processing times in Vermont or California. VJs estimates are not reliable due to a low number of cases and some people get approved very quickly like 6 months at both centers while others wait 13 months.
