Hi everyone,

Just looking to see if anyone have any ideas on this.

My country went into lockdown a week before my scheduled appointment. Naturally, I have all the documents ready for that appointment. Now it's been over a month since then. I don't know when the lockdown will be lifted but would I have to "update" the documents for the eventual interview? my fiance's job hasn't been affected by the virus, fortunately, so all the documents are still valid. My concern is the date of the documents which would show that its more than a month old (or possibility more). Same goes to the evidence of relationship like chats and photos. I know its a little early to be worried about these things but I'd like to be prepared.

Thank you!

You can gather more evidences of coure. If you are confident in what you have right now, then you are good to go, just wait for the embass / consulate to open again. Good luck.

Tip: they are not really interested in your messages / chat logs.

Police certificates and medical exams should be completed as close to the interview as possible. All other items are valid on the day they were created for life. i.e. Birth Certificate.

The only evidence you need is stated below which comes directly from the P3 letter. I don't like to pontificate about a requirement without first seeking the governmental source of the information. I use the embassy's P3 letter for what is needed at the interview. Beware, not all embassies require the same information.

EVIDENCE OF RELATIONSHIP – VERY IMPORTANT: You will be asked to submit proof of a valid

fiancé (e) relationship with your petitioner. It is therefore useful to bring with your letters, e-
mails, phone bills, old and current photographs, evidence of your engagement and any other

evidence of relationship. You must provide paper copies as evidence. Phones, computers, CDs
and videos will not be acceptable for this purpose.

I may have made a mistake in this. I applied for the Police cert early this year when my fiance applied for the visa. We received NOA1 and police cert in the same month. If we're fortunate, we'll receive NOA2 end of next month but it'll prob take longer than this.

I tried reapplying the police cert but they kept telling me that to take the approved one and I'm not sure if I can apply for another after that. But I can't take them now coz all the govt offices are closed during this lockdown. It's mostly my fault, as I didn't pick up the approved cert when it was ready... sigh.

I'm confused. In your first paragraph you said you received the PC. Then in the second paragraph you are blaming yourself for not picking up the PC. Local PC are good for normally 6 months whereas the PC's you receive from other countries can have 6-12 months of validity. Most embassies want the PC from either entity to be within 6 months of the interview. I hope this clarifies and helps you to understand what is needed for your interview. Refer to the P3 from your embassy once you receive it for detailed instructions. You're a little ahead of yourself here today.

My apologies! Okay, so I applied in the first week of Jan '20. The website said it will take 2-4 months to get approval. So, I just applied because my fiance was sending in the application in the first week as well. Little did I know, they approved my PC mid of Jan. I was supposed to go pick it up in person but I got caught up with work and couldn't take the day off to travel 20km out of the city to get it.

Then the Covid-19 happened and my country is in lockdown, even the govt offices are closed. I can't pick up the PC now, or even reapply for it. So, yes you are right, I was way ahead of myself in applying for it. I really didn't expect it to get approved so fast.

The best thing I can do now is wait for the city to reopen again and travel to the offices to get it and try to reapply again so it will be closer to my interview date. Hopefully that works.
