Hello all!

My financé is Mexican and we are about to start the K-1 process by sending the i-129f. She needs to be in Mexico in July 2020 so we do not want her to receive the visa and have it expire before then. I've read that normally the K-1 is valid for 6 months but it can be shorter if your medical exam is valid for less time. Does anyone know if the visa medical exams in Mexico are normally valid for six months?

Thanks!

Same all over the world.   Your would be lucky to get the visa by the end of the year or even early next.  Not that fast a process particularly in Mexico

YMMV

Do you mean July 2021?  There is NO WAY she would receive the visa in July of this year, let alone this year at all, most likely.

Visa interviews are currently on hold anyway, plus even pre-covid, Juarez had a huge backlog for interviews.  You'll be lucky if she is here within a year.

Yes, the medical exam is valid for 6 months max. Certain conditions may further reduce the validity period of it.

The visa validity period is ties to the medical exam validity period.

Anything 2020 for Mexico is out of the question now with anything new, and without expedites (which require a reason).

Let's clarify the status of the embassies. They are closed to interviews, except on emergency situations. They are not ALL closed for scheduling. Some have opened their interview appointment scheduling portals for June - August appointments. Will you be able to complete that schedule we don't know right now? The current climate is in such flux.

The validity of your visa will be limited with the validity of your medical report. Those medical reports classified as "Class B (TB)" are valid for 3 months from the date the doctor signed the report. All other medical reports classified as "No apparent disease or defect" are valid for 6 months after the doctor’s signature date. If your case is subject to further administrative processing, or if the processing of your file is delayed due to missing documents, the medical report may expire before your visa is issued. In that case, you would be required to renew the examination and submit an updated medical report to our office before you receive your visa.
