Is there a way to check that status of a visa in the nvc in NH do I still use the same receipt number off my approval?  I hearing it takes 2-3 weeks

It is called “Ask NVC” and yes you have to wait at lease a months or so after receiving NOA2, it can be longer with this pandemic.

You probably have better results sending an email. There is a template somewhere on this site.

Join us in the March NOA2 to Embassy thread and download the PDF file on the first page of the thread. It will give all kinds of information to use during this stage that you are in. It will answer that question as well.

I called right at the two week mark to get an invoice number and while it took me about an hour on hold, they had it.  A month would be very generous.. and to long.

Even now.  Contrary to the CNN/MSNBC there are parts of the country that are not at a complete standstill.
