So I just found out that my I-130 petition for my son has been accepted and is under review.  However, even though I filled out the G-1145 E-Notification of Application / Petition Acceptance, I never received an email about it (just happened to notice that the check I had sent had been cashed).  Same story with the I-130 I sent for my wife last year.  Anyone encountered this problem before?

Of course others have encountered this, it's humans we're talking about, sometimes things don't go as planned and documents go missing or are just forgotten. Many people also hide the form in the back of the petition and they just miss it. Wait until they start losing parts of your actual petition, that's when the fun starts.

I should also add that I don't receive emails anymore, only texts. When we filed the i-129f petition and later the AOS, I received emails and texts. Both. When I filed for ROC in April last year I only got the text message, no email. Same thing now when I got three different updates for my ROC, they all come as a text message, not email, even though I have specifically signed up for both text and email in my account on USCIS.gov.

I thought the same thing when I filed I-130 for my mom - I didn’t get an email with confirmation that petition was received, but at the end I received an email when it was approved.

Thanks for your input.  If only I had experienced this, I'm might consider it human error.  But if a lot of people have, that makes me worried about the whole process.  In my defense, I put the form near the front and labeled that clearly on my cover letter.  If you have to fill out a form that specifically is for that purpose, why isn't it honored?  Since I'm not living in the US at present, it's not convenient for me to receive a text.  I'm hoping that I will be informed by email when the petitions get approved.  But at any rate, I am thankful that both petitions have been accepted.
