Hi, so I have a question about presenting my birth certificate in my k1 visa interview which is in fact birth record I got last summer from country I was born.  The country doesn't issue birth certificates anymore everythings online and you can probably see something with your social security number which I dont have since I'm not citizen of the country anymore. Anyway managed to get birth record from the government and about to get the document translated. It does have my parents names,my name and date and place I was born and its signed &stamped , just wondering since Ive been reading about the topic and it says it has to be original birth certificate, not record (?) The original one is gone so there's nothing I can do. Has anyone been in similar situation and how its working in these type of cases ,this is the only thing I'm stressed about for the interview...

You will need hospital record, relative statements, baptism certificate and / or school records if you don't have your original birth certificate. You mentioned a government-issued birth record, so it is sufficient for now. Recently issued documents usually trigger APs so you should expect that as well.

When they refer to "original" they are looking for an "official" document from the issuing agency from your country. That is what's called a certified copy for the purpose of the interview documents. If that is what you have you should have no concerns.

The P3 document I suppled to you states the following:

(  ) BIRTH CERTIFICATES: One certified copy of the birth certificate of each person named in the application is required. Birth records must be presented for all unmarried children under age of twenty-one, even if they are not applying for a visa at this time. The certificate must state the date and place of birth and names of both parents (in Finland: Virkatodistus/Extract from the Finnish Population System, from Maistraatti).

(  ) UNOBTAINABLE BIRTH CERTIFICATES: If an official birth certificate is not obtainable, present the best possible secondary evidence, such as baptismal certificate, hospital certificate, school records, and/or a notarized affidavit from your parents.
