When the Chinese government eased quarantine restrictions for several cities in mid-March, something peculiar happened. Finally able to breathe fresh air after weeks in forced conjugal captivity, scores of citizens rushed to a common destination. They didn’t go to parks or popular restaurants. Since I am at risk and staying home and my wife works in a high risk environment,  we are kind of doing our own thing at home.

 

I did get out and do an 8 mile walk today. Reminded I done got old

I didn't walk 8 miles.  But I did take Oliver (my dog) on a longer than usual walk today.  We got home and he gulped down a ton of water and jumped on the bed and looked at me and immediately fell asleep.  I too collapsed on the bed.

 

I am actually enjoying this time I have with my husband.  We are both usually so busy at work but this has been good for us.  And today is our wedding anniversary!  7 years.

My best friend is a family lawyer and she has told me that while work has slowed down at the moment, she's waiting for a post-reopening glut of work, like she gets usually right after Christmas.

 

Personally I've never spent this much time with Alex in such close quarters. We are trying hard to stay in good spirits and out of each other's hair during the day. One of the things that has worked is him sticking to normal working hours and not wandering in and out of his office as he feels like it to hang out with me. If he needs some help, he can send me a message and I will help if I can, but we have set some boundaries -- if he needs to leave his office for a walk, or something from the main fridge, he now leaves me alone and doesn't wander out to the living room or into the bedroom to see me. And vice versa. If I happen to be in a room when he's passing through, we'll say hi and chat for a few minutes, but that's it unless he's taking a longer break. Even when he goes for a walk around 3, I don't go with him. We need the space to be ourselves, together but apart, for at least part of the day. I am actually better at being alone than he is. :star:

 

I love to be with him and he is my favorite person in the world, but too much togetherness under forced conditions isn't good, I think. Although he tells me that he can't divorce me until we get married, so I really have nothing to worry about in the first place!
