Hi,

I've been reading around the subject of DCF in london. My husband and I are going to submit our I-130 tomorrow and we were wondering if anyone else is starting on their visa journey.

Also...it would be great if others could tell us how long the process took them in London from start to finish?

It took us 5 months and 2 days from receipt of the I-130 to interview -- like wodge, ours is also tomorrow. I think it's fairly safe to say it's taking between 4-6 months for DCF in London at the moment, depending on how quickly you turn the bits of paper around.

And yes, come on over to the UK forum for more advice and timeline info. Good luck and welcome to the journey!

I originally sent off my I-130 on 11th January, and I received my visa on 9th June. I turned round all my documents within a couple of days of receiving them and had all my supporting documents ready and waiting each time.

The I-130 was slowed down because there was a change in the law around that time, and the regional USCIS offices seemed to slow down while they worked out how to deal with it.

The packet 3/4 stage was very quick - not sure how typical that is.

You can see my timeline in my signature file below hopefully...

Mike and Jill's I-130 timeline

9 Jan 2007 - sent application for police record

11 Jan 2007 - posted I-130 off

17 Jan 2007 - I-130 officially filed

22 Feb 2007 - Mike received official job offer in the US

13 Apr 2007 - I-130 approved

21 Apr 2007 - packet 3 received

23 Apr 2007 - posted packet 3 to Embassy

25 Apr 2007 - packet 3 received at Embassy PO box

30 Apr 2007 - medical in London

30 Apr 2007 - received packet 4

7 Jun 2007 - interview - visa approved :-)))

9 Jun 2007 - received visa and mystery brown envelope

30 Jun 2007 - planning to move to US

I am joining you guys I think. We have just had our I-130 approved and are waiting for Packet 3. We have all the stuff we need for that ready to send off when we get it. But what will we need for packet 4??

Packet 4 (scurries off to look at ours) has the date and time of your interview, a very short note about what forms of police certificate are acceptable (not Standard and Enhanced Disclosure, but that's not the kind you apply for anyway, as you should have applied for a Subject Access report), some info on the interview itself and a reminder to get your medical done if you haven't already, then a list of all the documents you must bring with you to the Embassy, and the order in which they should be presented. Also, the fees for the visa, a reminder to take copies of your documents, a map of the Embassy and info on where and how to have photos taken for the visa.

So basically, the answer to your question is all the documents you said you had ready when you sent off the checklist, plus the photos. Actually, FYI, they only asked us for one photo on the day. I suppose getting two done isn't a bad idea, just in case something happens to one of them.
