Do I have to wait to receive letter from Embassy before I can book interview appointment?

Some people are able to find interviews in London available in anticipation of virus things opening up restrictions. If the situation isn’t better, the May or June appointments will be canceled by email when the time gets closer.  BUT having an interview appointment without being able to get a medical appointment or into your GP for the needed healthcare summary and any needed written description of current or previous issues, illnesses, surgeries, etc prior to the medical makes issues. Without everything in place, no visa is going to be issued. And I believe travel from the UK to US is still banned for non Americans or residents. There’s a lot of extra complications for K1s in London right now.

Hi,

I am wondering the same for our process. Are we supposed to be trying to make an appointment for interview without medical or receiving a snail mail packet? I worry I’m falling behind by simply waiting this out.

Context:

- Our immigrant visa case number says “Ready” as of 6 March 2020.

- Approval Notice is valid up to 5/29/2020 (does this really expire?)

- We have completed DS-160 but that says “no status” when searched

Please take care.

You can schedule an interview appointment without completing the medical. But medical needs to be completed to receive your visa and receive it on time. Happens all the time. There are details below in what needs to be completed for your interview. Stay connected with your embassy website for the latest news and connect with the NOA2 group where on the first page, first post there is a PDF file that you should download and be familiar with. You have a lot to do between now and the interview.

I don't have a Packet 3 letter that has all the requirements for your upcoming interview but what I have I will share below. Once you get in touch with your Embassy and they send you the P3 letter with all the requirements if would be so kind and share a copy with me then I can use it to help others in the future. Thanks.

For the most current information use the embassy webpage. Here is what the US Embassy UK states:

UPDATE: As of March 17, 2020, the United States Embassy in London is cancelling routine nonimmigrant visa appointments and reducing immigrant visa appointments, and no visa appointments will take place at the Consulate in Belfast. We will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time.

https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/

Pay your interview fee and that will allow you access to the interview scheduling module. If interview appointments are available, you'll be able to grab one. If not, then you need to check back. Some embassies are booking for June - August. Your interview fee is good for one year.

Hi, I to am in this situation. how, when and where do they collect the fee? I found the fee total on the website. will he need to bring a check to the interview? pay it online. a link could help I might have missed it on the site. thanks so much in advance

Your instructions from the embassy are here https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/applying-for-the-visa/

Find this “Step 4” on the page and it will explain the interview appointment scheduling, fee payment and courier arrangements all done online

Also this page which says personal checks are not accepted https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visa-fees/

Immigrant Visa Applicants – pay the fee to the Embassy cashier on the day of the visa interview.  Fees may be paid in cash – sterling or dollar equivalent; by International Money Order or Bankers Draft; Credit Card – Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club, Discover or American Express; or Debit Card with the Visa logo. The Embassy does not accept any other credit or debit cards, or personal checks.

K Visa Applicants –  pay the MRV application fee via the Consular Section’s Visa Information and Appointment Services contractor prior to the visa interview.  Information regarding payment will be provided to you in your visa interview appointment letter.

I have my interview scheduled for a June 9th and my medical exam scheduled for May 20th. I have gathered all of the required documentation for both the interview and the medical, however I am still yet to receive any sort of letter from the embassy. Could this be a problem? CEAC website says the embassy is ready for my interview and I have a letter from the nvc saying they have sent my petition to the embassy

If the NVC letter has your new LND case number on it, that’s what you take to show at the medical instead of the letter from the embassy. They just want to verify the case number in writing. There is no other reason you will need the actual letter from the embassy.  Carry on without it.
