Decided just to go for it and prepare and file first step...we have several months to worry about and sort out the support issue. So wish me and Nick luck.

here's a thought....does a co-sponsor need to be related,we have had offer of a friend of Nicks family being my co-sponsor as I'm actually intending on living off $7-8K worth of saving plus Nick will get job when we go back to his home town. His parents will be helping out too but as far as number cruching goes they are just under the 125% mark. Nick has 5 siblings 2 of which work but still live in the family home, would their income be added too, if so then they over the 125%

07/09/2007 - NOA1 (hard copy 07/11/2007)

11/13/2007 - NOA2...127days after filing (hard copy 11/17/07)

12/22/2007 - packet 3 rec. (12/28/2007 returned)

01/11/2008 - medical (allergic to tetanus shot, requirement waived)

02/05/2008 - interview @ 10am - APPROVED!!!!!!

03/12/2008 - Flying Glasgow - Dublin - Chicago - Omaha

05/31/2008 - WEDDING

AOS

07/31/2008 - AOS and EAD finally mailed

08/02/2008 - Delivered

08/08/2008 - Check cleared

08/11/2008 - NOA1's for AOS and EAD recieved (reciept date 08/07/2008)

08/16/2008 - Biometrics letter recieved

09/09/2008 - Biometrics at 1pm, Omaha

09/26/2008 - AOS transferred to CSC

09/29/2008 - AOS touched (took out envelope at CSC and put in new pile)

10/03/2008 - AOS touched (probably that RFE coming soon!!!!)

10/06/2008 - AOS touched AGAIN!!! (surely it's an RFE)

10/15/2008 - EAD CARD PRODUCTION ORDERED!!!!YEY!!!

10/27/2008 - EAD IN HAND

01/12/2009 - AOS touched

01/26/2009 - Email from CRIS. GREENCARD PRODUCTION ORDERED..YIPPPPEEE

ROC

10/25/2010 - ROC mailed

11/15/2010 - NOA1 and check cashed

05/29/2007 Interview at 7.30 a.m. APPROVED Thank you, God!

06/01/2007 Visa arrived !

06/03/2007 Mayday on the plane POE Cincinnati

Living in Maryland

06/21/2007 Welcome Notice from USCIS

06/29/2007 Applied for SSN at the local Office

07/07/2007 Green Card arrived

07/09/2007 Another 2 Welcome Letters from USCIS...God, they really love me! :D

07/20/2007 Social Security Card arrived

Feb 2009 Received letter from VSC to start removing conditions.

No, the cosponsor does not have to be related, but the consular officer needs to feel confident that whomever you choose will put their money where their mouth is (so to speak) if it comes to that.

You're sort of confusing two issues here (bold print). His parents can sponsor you, but if their combined income is not over the suggested 125% mark, they likely do not make good candidates to be your cosponsors. His parents would also have to report how many dependants they have claimed on their tax returns.

I assume your fiance's siblings do not report their income on their parent's tax returns, so their income cannot be factored into the parent's sponsorship. The only bearing they would have on the parent's sponsorship at all is whether or not his parents claim them as dependants.
