K1 visa and household income

My question is this when you trying to apply for the k1 to bring your future spouse to the US. When it comes to household income what does that consist of, what if you have a room mate but you paid all the bills. How do they verify this information. Do they ever investigate who you live with or they just go by your taxes how they confirm if you live alone when it comes to household income, because I paid all the bills.

They don't care if you have a roommate our if you are living in your parent's basement. They use the following information that will be submitted at the interview.

 

EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT: You must submit any evidence which will show that you and members of your family who will accompany you are not likely to become public charges while in the United States. Visa petitioner (US Citizen) will have to complete form I-134. If the petitioner does not qualify as a sponsor, a Joint-Sponsor should ALSO be presented (any US Citizen living in the US or Legal Permanent Resident), who will also have to complete form I-134. Both, the Sponsor (Petitioner) as well as the Joint-Sponsor, will have to present last year's income tax return transcripts. W2 form and proof of current and sustainable income (e.g. letter of employment on letterhead including salary and start date, most recent salary receipts, bank accounts, the value of properties, etc.). You may download the I-134 affidavit at https://www.uscis.gov/i-134 Get the IRS transcript in place of the actual 1040 here: https://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript Use this link to determine the income levels needed https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p. Also, the new requirement from most embassies is to complete the DS-5540. https://eforms.state.gov/Forms/ds5540.PDF. This form is completed by the beneficiary and never by a co-sponsor.

But when it comes to household income who are they referring to if I live with Roomate but I paid all the bills. How do they confirm this or is it just me sending my tax forms

Also does a roommate count as household income if  your taxes show you qualify do  you still must  state the roommate income.

Forget the roommate. He/she doesn't count toward income or taxes, so they are not considered for any part of this process. Forget the roommate. Since it is just the two of you, your income is only what is considered not the roommate or your support of the roommate. Overlook the roommate.

Do you claim your room mate on your tax return?   NO?  Then NO you don't list them for the K-1
